Hi guys, I need a little help, I had a 2016 stingray with a transparent top and in the dead of the summer it was pretty hot from the sun. Do you think it has been improved since 16 I know you can get another layer to put underneath it but it kind of defeats the purpose, any thoughts I would appreciate. I like the black color with the arctic white, the car will be in Florida and I don’t wanna burn up. Thanks!
I live in the Northeast and I’ve had translucent tops on all my Corvettes (and I’ve owned six Corvettes). It gets warm in July/August but not oppressive. Don’t think I’d care for it if I lived in FL though.

Totally agree. When I ordered my C7 there was a constraint on the solid tops. So I had to get the transparent top. Too hot on summer days, so I bought one of the shades for it.

Transparent top is a horrible choice anywhere the sun shines.
I had a transparent top on my C6 that I owned for six years. It got hot as well, so I bought one of those suction cup liners and it helped. Personally, I wouldn't have a transparent top again. My C7 has a solid top and I enjoy it a lot more, but that's just me.
If I could only have one top it would have to be the painted one. The transparent top is too hot in the summer. You only live once, get both. You could just get the transparent top and have UV blocking ceramic tint put on it but it will be harder to see though.

I also live in the Northeast and have had transparent tops since 2005. Turn on the AC and very comfortable. Both in my C6 and C7.
I saw another post that had decided to get colored roof and he was going to wrap the top. He had 3 or 4 renderings, with different cut off points, that I thought looked great.

I live in So Cal and got one of the static cling covers from MidAmerica, the one with thousands of little holes in it and it works great for reducing heat. And I can still see out, think of those sunglasses that were sold several years ago with holes in them. And in 10 seconds it can be off and rolled up. Caution though, when you "rip" it off, it creates a ton of static electricity and if you have hair it will be pointing straight up.....LOL ask me how I know.......
Get the Duel Roof package. I have had it on many of my Corvettes and will get it when I buy a C8.
I change the roof every week or two just to make the Corvette look a little different. It is great to have the transparent roof on in the Fall to see the changing color of the leaves.
When it is 95 degrees in the Summer I use the body color roof.
It is a great luxury.
I live in Florida. I have my 2nd Vette, ordered new, with the transparent top. My other car has a standard non transparent top. Parked in the Florida sun, for few hours on a hot day, they each get VERY hot inside. If you measured with a thermometer I'd bet the Vette would be a few degrees hotter,- but not so you could tell the difference. However the Vette has great air conditioning, and turned up a few notches the car feels comfortable in a few minutes. Then you have the benefits of the transparent top,- the feeling of open spaciousness, the view of the clouds above, as well as the traffic light that sometimes must be seen through the roof, in addition to the two tone look of the car that I like..
Take the free top that comes with the car and then watch the various forums or craigslist for a transparent top for sale. Over the years Ive done this..take the standard roof and then buy a transparent one later on...
usually about $700 for the second roof give or take a few dollars...
plenty of guys buy both and never use one of them...usually the transparent roof.
i love the transparent roof...it opens up the cockpit...
that said i buy it later on off craigslist or the forums.
Thats what the auto start is for. Remote start 5 min before and it will cool everything down. That's what I do for my high tech 2015 focus. Surely, my itsy bitsy focus can't be better then the mighty c8
