Default How many?

Wondering how many C8s GM can produce in 2020? What can the factory turn out each day with two shifts working?

Can't quote the source, but I read their target is 250 a day with no overtime.

250*365 = 91,250

or FAR more than the plant will produce.

Figure 20 days a month and MAYBE they stretch it to 8 months because of strike = 40,000

They only work 5 days per week. Latest info we have is 2020 production starts in February and ends in August. So, 7 months at an average of 22 days per month is 154 days. 154 * 250 = 38,500 and that is overstating it because the factory will not run at full speed for at least the month of February.

I thought I saw where the C7 was running at 11.6 cars per hour. If it's the same rate X 16 hours ( 2 shifts) that's about 186 cars per day.

Honestly you can pretty much look at history. When the C7 came out, it also had a lot of orders and they did about 35,000 a year.

11.6 per hour X 16 hours per day only equals 185 per day.

I took the NCM tour this past summer. Our tour guide said the Bowling Green factory has the capacity to do 177/day.

177 per day including the second shift? Hope GM can crank out more than that.

If you REALLY want to know, you need to check with GM. Do you really think that anyone on CF has an accurate number?

GM has already said they will build as many as they can sell...they have no predetermined exclusivity numbers like Ferrari, so with three shifts it would be a big number.

They will only build what the TWO shifts will build, five days a week, minus holidays, but with possible overtime as needed. It is way too early, and silly, to speculate on final production numbers.

Pretty crazy if they hit to that 37-40k number.

Just in January - September there were 260k Toyota Camry's sold. 14-15% of Camry sales seems huge for a Corvette. Hoping there aren't toooo many out there haha
