So I am looking at getting something for fun, originally was toying with a used cayman for around 30-40k and then they announced the C8 and loved the look but it was still a bit more than I was looking to spend, in high school I used to have a mustang, and have had some ok daily drivers, but this would be my first non necessity car.
Now I see that there are deals of up to 17% off new C7s....which would put them more in line with what I was thinking of spending on the used Porsche....but I still can't help but wonder if its worth it to just wait for the C8.
If I did go C7 it would be just an 1LT, and C8 would be basically the base model.
Life’s too short to be this worried about one decision... I say, buy what you can afford to enjoy now, and then re-look at the C8 once there are used ones available in a year or so.

Any thoughts appreciated.
If you like the looks of the C8 then I’d wait. It’s more car than the base C7 for sure.
Go drive some cars. Cayman, GT350, C7. If you don't have an allocation in on a C8 yet from an MSRP dealer you are likely looking at late summer to winter 202 0 and you may be better off just buying sometime next year and get a 2021. Will give you more time to save and also wait for more user reviews and find out what issues the car might have out of the gate.
C7 is a great car. I would not even buy new, I would look for a used one that has most of the warranty left, or CPO. If you shop around 25-30% off MSRP on a barely used one should be easy to find in the Sping when people are dumping their C7's for C8's. Also factor in taxes, insurance, etc.
But start with driving some of the cars above and see what you like and don't like. Don't rush into it and take your time.
Me and my friends touched, sat in, took pictures and just appreciated the engineering of the new Corvette.
Carlisle this year was exciting. "You want one", I say again "you want one" !!
New corvette was very impressive !
I don't think your likely to see the $60K for a new C8 again, but that said out the door you won't be at $60K either. It's already double your budget. It's a beautiful car but I'm not a big believer in living above your means. The newness will wear off and you'll just be strapped. I say it's good to have goals that drive you. Save and save until it is in your budget.

I always live by two sayings... you only live once, and if you want something bad enough you will do anything to get it. I say save your money and when you feel like you have enough to get the C8 then get it. I'm only 33 and I have been saving for about 3 years to get the C8.
This is something you need to think about and decide for yourself. No one here knows you likes/dislikes, your financial situation or you requirements for a car. Take a minute, think about it and then decided what is best for you. Don't bother asking strangers on the internet for something only you can figure out for yourself. I still don't get these threads.
To me the C8 makes the beautiful C7 look like yesterday’s news. I’d surely take a C7 if someone gave one to me but I wouldn’t spend a dime on yesterday’s tech.
Yes! The C8 design, performance, styling, interior material (and design), technology, DCT, price and the fit/finish plus no orange peel exceeded all my expectations! Can’t wait to get one!

If you like Mustangs, look at what Lebanon Ford is doing in your price range: https://www.lebanonfordperformance.c...r-for-39995-2/
You don't want to be a slave to a huge car payment that you're not truly ready for.
I guess all these new one question posters are good for advertising rates but seriously. Buy what you want. Its your money, your ability to have patience

I thought I was a member here from before as I had been in the market previously but when I checked my list of forums it wasn't one I was on and decided to jump in, I am on a few other car boards but mostly for stuff I have owned (mustang, contour SVT, and Cadillac)….
Really just looking to see if folks thought the C7 at a considerable discount is worth getting vs waiting for the C8 especially since as noted price will go up and chances of getting one in the next year is a bit of a gamble given I am not on a list yet.

I checked out the C8 at the local dealer when they had one in, it was really nice but with that said I also like the C7....could I afford a new one even optioned out, sure, but I view this as just something to tool around in on the weekends at best and wanted to keep the cost lower for now if possible.

I will look used, I was avoiding it because I figure some of these cars are driven hard and again the price new wasn't terrible for a LT1, and given I'd only be driving it infrequently its not like I need a lot of options...I actually prefer cars with less "stuff" in them and don't need crazy power.
I waited in 2014 for my C7 and after five months was told not going to make it, would have to be a 2015. Then waited a year and ordered the Z06, took three months but was worth the wait. I will wait for the C8 for how ever long it takes
I am a pretty huge boxster/cayman fan, I hate to admit, I even like the new turbo 4 cyl Cayman (I drove a GTS a few months ago) they are VERY fun cars and you can find one in a manual if that is appealing. I also really like Corvettes. I will say, 2 different experiences. To this day, in a Porsche, people do give me the occasional nod, but with Corvettes, people will approach you and seems like thumbs up and acknowledgements are much more frequent in the Vette, my personal experience. Driving, the Porsches to me, feel much more visceral, and I can really feel right where the contact patches of the tires are, they are tossable, nimble, and confidence inspiring. The Vette is a bit more of a GT, it feels bigger, doesn't feel quite as connected, but also, comfortable and very livable. I daily drive all of my hot rods. The C8 is most def in my crosshairs, I am not an early adopter, but I can tell you its just a matter of time before I have one. How can you not?
Bottom line, you have to get some seat time. Put aside what people THINK you should get, my friends are all Pcar guys and I was out with them this summer and talking cars, the WIVES all bristled at the idea that I was going to get a Vette, that made me laugh and almost made the Vette MORE appealing to me.... But drive them and follow your heart. That is what I have done and have been fortunate to experience a lot of fun cars from a pretty diverse group of manufacturers.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
