Aside from the new/improved electronic nannies, what's been done to increase the cars safety cage?

Can I ask why you think the "safety cage" needs to be improved?

Absolutely nothing, it's still like the C4 and has the structural integrity of a wet cardboard box. That's why sports cars are so bad nowadays, they just have so much electronics
Sarcasm of course. Look up the chassis diagrams, this car has a super strong chassis with lots of high strength materials.

Just guessing, but the big front casting plays two rolls. The main one is to deflect the front wheel from the passenger compartment in a offset frontal crash. The fact the driver is 16" farther forward and that much closer to the front axle line, it's that much more difficult to keep the front wheel from coming into the passenger compartment.

Generally with a new platform these days they're upgraded and saving more lives/lessening injuries is always welcome.

lol Thanks, I've seen what's on GM's site but no mention of any improvements over the C7's...generally enhancements to the s-cage go hand/hand with new platforms on higher end vehicles especially these days.

The flip side of that is that the entire front end is crush space, with no incompressible engine in the way.
