Quick question: Does getting the call to pay the 5% deposit, enter your order details, getting a purchase agreement and then getting an order number mean you are days away from having your order submitted to GM production? Or do you still wait on an allocation that could take months to arrive? The posts on here have me confused about whether finally getting “the call” and getting the six letter order number means I’m about to get my order sent in. Thanks guys!

Depends on your dealer. I have done all but a 5% deposit (mine was 2K refundable) and I am at least 5 months from getting an allocation assigned. Sitting at 1100.

Short answer #1 is NO.
Short answer #2 is MAYBE.
You need to understand the difference between a dealer creating an order, and GM accepting it.
Do you mean a $1000 deposit to hold your allocation or the 5% deposit to put your order into GM?
There is no general requirement to put 5% down.
Some dealers might want it and at some dealers it might mean something. It could mean that your dealer has been given allocation for the next ordering cycle coming up soon and will submit your order. Which would be good.
Or it could just mean that your dealer likes 5% deposits.
As for how soon you'd get your car, that's simply up to GM's scheduling.
