I love the big blocks, 65 396/425, 66 390 and 425 (late cars rated at 450 hp), 67 390, 400, 435, 68 390, 400, 435.
However, my favorite is the L79 327/350 horse. Have that in my 65. The big blocks make loads of low end torque, but the L79 pulls great and loves to rev. Easier to live with every day. My 65 was my daily driver in the early 70's.
That said, they are slugs compared to my C7 Z. The new cars are faster but they insulate you more from the sensation of speed. The old cars feel fast even if they are slower.
It's all good.
I’ve owned 19 of them since 2002. In addition ‘71 Camaro, ‘71 Firebird, ‘71 Lemons, ‘08 Suckstang GT and a ‘11 370Z Nismo. Seven 1000cc bikes a couple of Hayabusa’s a couple of 14R Ninjas a Kawi 14 Ninja a couple of HD three jet boats and a partridge in a pear tree.

Have the 71 conv 72 conv and the 77 now looking for a 68 69 conv project this summer. but the first was a 77 in early 1984
I am on number 45. I currently own a 02 Z06 and 17 GS
Out of the 45; oldest was a 54, newest is the 17 GS. Midyears have been my most owned generations, followed by C5's.
EVERY generation has it's own uniqueness, type of styling and enjoyment to own
The first generations: were over powered hay wagons with undoubtedly some of the most timeless styling! The Mid years: you just felt the power and heard the sound...(still my favorite!). Sharks: seeing the big fender bumps feeling the "squat" upon taking off is just plain a sensation you will never forget. C4's: "one with the car". C5's: refined, classy and first of the non-leak-ers! C6: First of the true rocket ships on rail's (Z Versions). C7, Everything rolled into one great car!
As we venture forward, I look forward to the next new generation, wondering what "special" experience it has to offer!
