Default Order clarification

Given the fact that the last two corvettes I have owned I purchased directly from the owners, I know little to nothing about the order process. In August I put in my deposit for a C-8. I did this with Macmulkin Chevrolet after being advised that it was a good idea
to go with a large Corvette dealer. Here we are in mid January and I'm now # 151 on their list. Now they told me that based on their allocations my order should come up in March. Waiting is no fun! Based on if this does happen in March, he is telling me I might expect the car in mid summer. Does anyone with expertise in these matters know if this sounds right? Any info appreciated.

That sounds about right based on an accepted order going to code 2000 in March and most likely a TPW 6 to 8 weeks after your order goes to 3000 then another 3 to 4 weeks to build and ship depending what part of the country you live in to dealer puts you sometime in late June or July.

Please understand that many of us have ordered and placed deposit going back 18 to 24 months.

So placing your order in August you were kinda late to the party.

With that being said you chose a great dealership with and excellent reputation that also has large allocation.

So I would expect that a 5 or 6 month wait sounds right.

Production starts Feb 3rd and no one will see a car delivered until early March if GM follow the normal process when releasing a new model Corvette they place a QI hold of 3 weeks before they release any cars to customers.

Good luck and hope you get years of enjoyment from your C8!!

Are you # 151 before or after their January allocation? It is very possible you are under # 100 after this current allocation.

I also ordered my C-8 with McMulkin. They received my deposit on August 3rd, 2019. At that time, I was #218. After the December allocations, I was down to #18. My order was transmitted to GM today. I have had numerous conversations and e-mails with the McMulkin sales staff over the past 2 days to be sure the order is accurate and if I wanted to make any changes before they submit to GM. I must say, the sales staff that I have communicated with at McMulkin over the past 5 months (Mark, Noah, Vanessa & Christina & Jeff) have been nothing short of spectacular !! Professional in every aspect. I highly recommend McMulkin to anyone :

It does seem to be the best policy to go with a big dealer like Macmulkin Chevrolet. I'm #2 at my small local dealer overall and I'm still at 1100 and they seem to have no idea about when they get allocations or orders picked up by GM to 2000 or higher status. When I call or go in for an update they don't even know to look at the status codes. I had to point it out on the monitor. I guess 1100 is better than nothing. I thought for sure I'd get one earlier as #2 here than #200 at one of the big Corvette dealers. First world problem I know.

Thanks for the great information, I really appreciate it. I was absolutely late to the party, as I couldn't make up my mind to buy a C-7 or a C-8. As soon as the reveal happened my mind was made up!

I just checked Monday, and I was #151 as of that point. I would assume that they probably got their January allocation.

I have to agree, they have been very helpful and informative. Vanessa also arranged for a courtesy delivery in Austin. :-)

In Austin, the dealers had very small allocations, and I was afraid that I might have similar issues. Hope it all works out for you.

I got an update on Tuesday and that was BEFORE accounting for this weeks allocations. Vanessa told me to contact them on Monday to get an updated number. I don't know the exact number of January allocations they got, but my guess is somewhere around 70-80. I didn't make it this cycle, but will definitely make it in the next cycle.

You're #2 of how many 2020 total allocations at this small dealer? 200 of 1200 is much better than 2 of 4..

Surprisingly at the beginning of last week my order was submitted. This was a nice surprise as I didn't expect this to happen till late March. They explained to me that this due to people dropping their orders, and deciding to wait for the Z06. I'm now hoping for late May or June, but I'm sure this is quite optimistic!

So you moved over 110 spots since the January allocation? That means about 40 dropouts? Is that about right? If so, I have a chance for March!

I guess that's what it means. I was very surprised when I received the call.

That is awesome! Did you know what number you were in late January? I know you said you were around 151 on January 13th, but not sure if that was before or after January allocation.

I believe that they had gotten their allocation for January, but I had decided that I wouldn't check until the end of February. So, I really have no idea if I moved up in late January. I'm now thinking that maybe they hadn't received it. I just can't imagine that they had so many people drop out because of the Z06, when it's probably at least a year and a half away. I really was shocked to hear from them last week. Funny, they said they needed conformation very quickly on my order spec, or they would be forced to pass it to someone else.

Actually heard last week that my order has been excepted, and then a couple of days ago they let me know that I had gone to 2000. Now I know that doesn't mean much, but then yesterday they notified me that I had gone to 3000. Am I ridiculously optimistic to think this is moving nicely, or is this really pretty normal?

Any info out there from you order experts would be appreciated.

The move from 2000 to 3000 is normally very quick.

How about the time it takes to go from 3000 to 3800? Is that regulated by your TPW? Can you remain at 3000 for some time, waiting for your TPW? Thanks.
