Let me explain why you are seeing cars produced and showing waiting shipping to dealers. I am the Corvette manager at a top 100 Corvette dealership. Back in November GM told us that about 50 Corvettes were going be awarded to certain Chevrolet dealers. The cars were pre spec built you didn't have any choice in what your getting. I was told back then my dealership would be getting a Ceramic Matrix Gray 3LT with Sky Cool Gray Interior 3LT Z51 with Magnetic Ride and Trident Wheels. Originally before the strike, we were told we would have the cars around Christmas.
Yesterday every dealer who is getting one of these cars showed up in our order workbench show the Vin# status 3800 produced. My car was built on 1/23/2020. There is no word on when it will ship to us so I will have to keep an eye on it every day.
Now for all of you who will say I don't know what I am talking about or I am lying it very easy for you to find the truth. Any Chevrolet dealer can go into GM Global go to locate vehicle enter 2020 Corvette check search all models then search by event code 3800 all models produced and your dealer can see every one of these cars produced and what dealers are getting them!!
I went to the Northeast Auto Show in Providence RI today. The GM rep said production already started. I told her no, it will start FEB 3. She said that WAS supposed to be the start date but it’s been moved up and it already started. I didn’t believe her, but maybe she was right!

Wondering if production has started. I thought it was to begin in February but someone posted this in another thread:
Keep in mind that every production car hits 3800, be it a Captured Test Fleet (50xxxxx) or regular production car. Without seeing the whole document with the VIN, there’s no proof here that RETAIL production has started. Not saying it has or hasn’t, just that this picture doesn’t prove it.

Correct. All of the units in the screen shots are CTF cars and not regular customer ordered production cars. The individual posting a 3800 status is not of a production car. I also confirmed with friends at GM that no customer ordered cars have come off the line yet. February 3 is still the scheduled SORP (Start of Regular Production).

Even with the strike why were the cars not available before the 2020 calendar year? Every vehicle, save for very few, has always been available prior to the actual year of the vehicle. Hell, the 84 came out in March of 83.

If you had no choice in what you were getting who are you selling these cars too?

They should have just made it the 2021 Corvette.
Because they needed to fulfill remaining 2019 C7 orders, then disassemble the C7 assembly line and build the C8 assembly line.
