In order for any j/c driver to load a single corvette they have to go thru training. As of today b/g drivers are still on lay-off and the cars went back into the plant for some undisclosed issue. The b/g based drivers will be the only ones transporting the c8. They have polled the system for transfer drivers and are now hiring off the street which will require weeks of training
The drivers are also at the mercy of central dispatch once they leave the plant which means they don't come back empty but go to another place for a back haul . There is no quick fix for all the cars sitting
Not sure we're you get tge 1095$ per vehicle that's simply not true
WHAT are you talking about back in the Plant ? Not seen or heard that anywhere .
Luckily Jack Copper just emerged from chapter 11 4 months ago! They now have over 1400 drivers and trucks, and slated go replace 80% of their Fleet in 2020. They only service 34 GM locations....

I worked with a bunch of the drivers that are now working at b/g back when allied systems had the business. they were told last week the cars are all on hold for some undisclosed issue.

j/c has been in and out of bankruptcy for decades. if your referring to the equipment they use being replaced it would be almost impossible to to replace 80% since the cost of the rigs are so high and the length off time it takes to build the rigs. even referring the existing fleet is done in terms of 1-3 trucks per terminal that can take mon the to have done.

We have known there was going to be a QC hold from the beginning ? I was told last week by someone at Jack Coopers HQ that they expect the cars released at the end of the week .

Where did you get info about the cars going "back in the Plant" ?
At 10 per load, and an average 3.5 day round trip. And a fleet of 20-30 truck rigs. Somewhere about 2 weeks depending on logistics and such.

A real example back in 2013 with the first year C7 between the first 4-5k of production I deleted VIN/Shipping identifying data..Generally support both statements above.
Here is a good article on JC restructure. Note, they have the capital to replenish their fleet. Albeit, it would take time, but it looks like they have been, like all trucking companies, replacing equipment for sometime now. As far as meeting a high demand period, their new contract allows them to go outside union drivers. The new contract looks to have really given them great flexibility in delivering service needs in situations where higher demand is needed. Also, based on my experience and inline with crabbyJ, those truckers can cover a lot of ground in a short period of time even with the new DOT regulations. Once the hold is really off they will be “Truckin”. It means revenue for everyone, a lot of revenue. The pressure is on to deliver the goods. 😉
Reading the posts, no one really knows if cars are back in? When QC will be released or when first cars will ship? Is that a good summary? Anxious like all to get the 2000 off the pavement and shipping provided no bugs!
Yeah, they took 2,000 cars and put them back in the plant, they have that much spare room. And there's no quick fix to installing all the number three rod and piston that were left out.
GM should do a media release when they start shipping with a clip of a line of trucks with C8's rolling out of the parking lot. That would be a great clip.

do you think they just go to the local truck dealership and buy a new truck? a 10 car carrier starts off as a cab and chassis. then its chopped new glass and then the entire skeleton of the tractor has to be fabricated. stinger 5th wheel has to be welded on thats just the tractor the trailer is built from scratch in 1 of 2 major fabricators cottrel or delavan. they build them to order not to speculate. fwiw if it was so easy for j/c to replenish 80% of its fleet they wouldnt6 be taking 15 yr old trucks off the deadline fence with trees growing thru the decks and try to repair them enough to put in service now would they?
carpal; is a specialized field in trucking and can't be compared to other fleets.
as for j/c using non union drivers and trucks ky is a closed state . best publicity they can have is a strike line going up when non union carriers try to go into the plant.

All the cars have to be reflashed. Each one with a USB stick. It might take a while to do 1600 cars. From the pictures it looks like they could have 40 trucks waiting to pick up the corvettes
