The 2022(?) C8Z. I've been planning on this for a while. It's coming out exactly as I'd hoped. If what info I've heard/read is accurate.
But, I still want to test drive the C8 to see if I like the feel of a mid engined car. I drove a 911 GT3, and the front end washed out really easily. I really didn't like it. And where I was, I couldn't drive it 'correctly.' The C6Z is such an easy car to rear throttle steer around a sharp turn....I'm afraid a mid engine will initial understeer, then snap oversteer near the limit. I've known a couple of people who spun out and trashed their X/19s and Fieros. Whereas the C6Z is so predictable and easy to control near 9/10s (with Michelin tires) limits.
I'd also really miss the TR6060 manual in my present car. It shifts like a dream. I'm not so certain if I'm all that hot on the DCT. The TREMEC makes feel like I'm part of the car.
The early c6z’s were supposedly a little twitchy at the limit so I assume yours was a later model year? I’m with you on the fun of being able to steer with your right foot. Not necessarily fastest but fun. First let me preface that this is at track speeds. Since we haven’t driven a C8 yet, it is reported that it turns in well but there is a mid corner push probably built in to avoid the horror stories you mentioned in some cars. Now nobody has been able to play with tire sizes, pressures, sway bars, shocks or springs or even non-recommended alignment yet to see how easy that push to snap oversteer margin can be finessed. But for now they have leaned toward the push to make it easier to drive fast for most who will drive it.

Actually, I found the car twitchy all over the place when I first got it. It's a 2013. All was solved when I switched from the OEM GY F1 EMT to Michelin Pilot SS tires. They're non EMT and they transformed the car. All my handling complaints were solved. Even on the track. My C6Z is now such when ever I drive it, it's hard for me to imagine how any car can drive better. My C6Z would be extremely hard to give up. Despite now having 80Kmiles on it. That's why I'm really hoping the C8Z will be a big step up. Hmmm...I never intended to become a 'collector,' LOL!
