Watch These Multiple C8 Corvettes Utilize Launch Control
The Corvette Blogger, Keith Cornett, spent the last two days at Corvette's C8 First Drive event in Nevada. His first of many posts covering the experience is now up and includes a video showing multiple C8s using demonstrating launch control. Check it out here: https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2020...aunch-control/
If you're buying a C8 and you don't take advantage of the deal by going to Spring Mountain you are making a large mistake. Great experience, and an opportunity to learn from some excellent driving instructors. You will gain confidence in your abilities and learn what the car is all about.

Whats the spring creek deal? Is it the NCM pickup with time on the track? My TPW is this week, with car to be made tomorrow... I was too late to add it on

Spring Mountain is a track near Las Vegas where Chevy covers some of the cost of the two day class that is specific to the C8. They have been doing this for a number of years for the original buyers. You are driving their cars not yours. See link below.
Those clean launches are always deceptive from outside the car..very uneventful but fast. But I wanna know who got those ride alongs? Media guys, priority previous owners, execs, celebs? If GM was smart (I know they are a mass producer), they would add some more loyalty appreciation to the the corvette brand, i.e. somebody who has bought every year since XX and give them a trip and ride in the C8...just a thought..I dont qualify..

I've seen a couple "social media influencers" posting about being at this event. YouTube and Instagram people.

GM invited various secondary media sources to be a part of this particular event. Corvette Forum had a representative there as well. It was a two day event where they drove around Las Vegas and then out in various highway situations and then spent today on the track at Spring Mountain.
Starting to think unless on a prepped surface non Z51 cars are going to pull away from Z51 cars. It's the gearing. The Z51 cars spin more out of the hole and will not catch the non Z51 cars as the non Z51 cars have a higher 1/4 mi trap speed. Who'd a thunk it?

The Z51 would spin less because of better tires. The tighter gearing will also keep the car in higher rpms. It's a DCT...so closer gears would maximize low end acceleration which is one of the main reasons for it. You really want the base to be a quicker car don't you? Even GM says the Z51 is quicker.

The launches look ordinary but actually deceiving. In order for this car to run 11.2 through the 1/4 mile you need at least a 1.7 60 ft time or even a high 1.6
The real question is how did GM manage that 11.2? Having said that, you have to get this car off the line in order to pull a 11.2 especially with the Z51 with only a trap speed of 121.
