No problems in either the C5s or the C7. Does it get warm in the trunk area, yes. But not enough to cause problems that I have seen.

I know that the Corvette design team knows that this is and has been a problem. Does anyone know why they have allowed an otherwise sophisticated automotive design to have the kind of negative that shouldn't be tolerated in a Chevy Spark, much less in their "halo" vehicle? Because I just read a Hot Rod C8 magazine road test, and guess what the only substantive complaint was? You guessed it: a hot trunk. Is this one of those "owner research problems" that a major manufacturer leaves to people who buy their product, or simple mindful ineptness? Because I'd gladly trade a tenth (or two) of 0-to-60 time for a trunk that wouldn't make toiletries leak all over it. Just my $70k comment, and that's just for one of them....
I have been tempted a few times to trade in my C7. But the hot luggage area, and the water drainage problem in the engine bay are a couple annoying points that dissuade me. I don't care much for the interior either. It feels a bit claustrophobic. I hope they eliminate the infamous "wall of buttons". Then I will probably be a bit more inclined to order a new Z06.... I do love that sound.

I have installed heat protection shield leaves in the trunk which helps to reduce substantially the temperature inside the trunk.

I've taken numerous road trips in my C6 and my C8. Sure, packed clothes etc will get warm - no different than clothes being in a dryer. Cosmetics etc go in the frunk. Not an issue for experienced travelers using common sense.

Hardly the only one repeated across generations... unfortunately.

LOL. Just LOL. My wife and I have put at least 10,000 miles on our C8 with the trunk stuffed full, and no heat issues. Sure the bottom of the soft luggage gets warm, but not enough to hurt clothing, computers, or anything else we pack in there. There's plenty of room up front for makeup and medicine and other heat sensitive items. There are no water "drainage" issues. Water gets in, and drains right out. If you don't want to clean the engine bay, buy an HTC. If you don't like the interior, you don't like it, but I've got more leg room in the C8 than I had in the C7.

But if you're worried about heat, don't buy a Z06. The frunk in the Z gets as hot as the trunk in the Stingray.
