Got to love the internet. What happened to the good old days when you ordered a car and didn't give a crap until the dealer called and said it's here.

In the “good old days” did you put down a deposit on a car and get a call 10 months later to pick it up? I imagine not.

Actually, when I was a kid, I remember my dad ordering a 72 Buick wagon and waiting 6 - 10 weeks for delivery.

They're not shopped sequentially. They’re shipped by area by filling up each transporter.

I ordered a 2010 C6 from MacMulkin in December 2009. It arrived at the dealership in February 2010, eight weeks later. But the 2010 C6 was not in demand back then like the C8 is today. Times have changed!

I ordered my early 1967 Barracuda and it arrived in 10 days. I ordered my C7 in September 2013 and it arrived in less than a month. I got to put gas in and start my C5 on the line but don't remember how long delivery took. It wasn't very long. My C8 looks like it will take about 5 months.

Actually, you did sometimes have to wait if you were buying a new model coming out. The C8 is certainly not the first new car with an extended waiting list.

Until you see these cars in person, the pictures do not do them justice. They are absolutely gorgeous. Inside and out. Seeing the two next to each other in Kerbeck's showroom with their different wheels, one with chrome badges and the other with black badges...one with black mirrors and spoiler and the other with white spoiler and mirrors. The seemingly infinite combinations of colors, interiors and accessory options will allow each to have their own personality and not look just like the Corvette down the street.
