I need help and confirmation from experts here if the following is accurate or not. A salesman from an out-of-state Chevrolet dealer told me that if I order a new C8 Corvette from his dealership they will not do a "courtesy delivery" with a dealer in my state of Colorado as they will lose the sale and allocation credit with Chevrolet and the dealer delivering the C8 will be getting all these credits. Is this accurate or completely false information? Thank you for helping and clearing this issue.

He is wrong and should know better. The dealer you ordered the car from is the "selling dealer" and earns the credit for future allocations.

Thanks a lot Bob Paris.
I did suspect that this salesman was lying to me and I stopped dealing with him immediately as I lost my trust in him.
A dealer of course has the option on not doing a courtesy delivery, this is their prerogative. They do not need to lie though and create phony rules.
Lying is completely unacceptable.
The way I understand it is that all they would lose is the PDI money that is paid by GM
its nothing more than adding the drop ship dealers I’d number in at the time of the order
I can’t imagine why people deal with these jokers when there are/have been open allocations with supporting dealers that actually know what they are doing.
I wouldn’t assume that he was lying. Most salesmen at Chevy dealers are clueless. I’m guessing that 99% have never been asked about a drop shipment and as with most people they would rather pretend to know the answer to everything instead of taking a moment to get accurate information

Where are these open allocations for a MY2020? People here would kill for an open allocation.

Im talking about the OPs situation. If he is just at the point of entering an order and is wanting to drop ship why not contact MacMulkin. They just posted that they have spots open for a 2020 build. Probably gets him a car in his driveway by early fall.
Thanks a lot Bob Paris.

I wouldn't assume he was lieing. Courtesy deliveries aren't common and do you know how new this salesman was?

As a person who did car sales. Corvettes at my dealership was usually reserved for certain salespeople. Most newer salespeople werent supposed to deal with vettes unless the vette specialist was busy with another customer, but would most likely need manager intervention. I was the exception to the rule because I had owned one so they figured I was very knowledgeable But in a volume chevy dealer, selling vettes aren't exactly their priority.
This salesman was recommended to me so assume he was experienced. When I spoke with him on the phone he sounded knowledgeable and as I had emailed him a day before speaking to him on the phone specifically inquiring about the courtesy delivery question he wrote me back and informed me that he will check with the owner of the dealership. So when we spoke on the phone he quoted to me what supposedly the owner had told him. The owner is a woman (big clue here) and her husband (I believe he is a manager at the dealership) had told this salesman to tell me that it will cost me only $800 to have my car transported to me in Colorado. He also informed me at the very end that there will also be a $270 documentation fee. So the surprises keep adding up.
So either he or the owner are lying and unnecessarily making up the false allocation issue. I understand that a dealer is not obligated to do a courtesy delivery but lying is totally unacceptable.
So these are the facts.
It is much more comfortable to do business with a good and reputable dealer, like MacMulkin than enduring undesirable headaches such as this sneaky dealer.

Wow...and does that mean you have now lost your $500 discount you were bragging about?

We live and learn and I think peace of mind is better than dealing with a dealer that gives you headaches.
Dealing with a reputable dealer who is honest and has integrity is priceless.
