Default Navigation Conversion Kit - 1LT

If you have a 1LT without Nav, you can get this kit to add onboard Navigation. Price is reasonable. No details of what is required for installation but says its a Card kit. Hopefully it is just plug and play. Similar kit available for Camaro

https://thenewswheel.com/2019-2020-c...n-upgrade-kit/

Yes I know the 1LT comes with Android auto and Carplay.....but if you want the onboard navigation, this is an option.

It needs the software updated at the dealer, my dealer gave me a 2 hour time quote. Getting it installed before I pick up the car.

The kit would include an SD card reader/writer with a navigiation SD card as well.

Map updates can be done over the air with a cloud service or by purchasing a card.

Over-the-Air-Vehicle Map Updates

If equipped, the infotainment system
can receive map updates over the
air. Map updates occur within a
161 km (100 mi) radius around the
home address on file. This
boundary will adjust over time
based on driving patterns. The
vehicle uses a Cloud-connected
service to receive the date and
downloads it to the system’s
onboard SD card, if equipped.

A data plan or compatible mobile
device hotspot is required. The SD
card is required for navigation
system function.

When a map update is available, a
prompt will appear on the
infotainment display. Once the
update is accepted, it will download
and run in the background without
interruption any infotainment
functions. The download will carry
over ignition cycles, stopping and
starting where it left off. The
updates can be set to download
automatically.

See www.gmnavdisc.com for details
on ordering, purchasing, and
installing a new or replacement SD
card.

Just use the Apple Carplay or Android Auto which are standard on the car to get your phone's GPS app displayed.
I used Google Maps with traffic avoidance and it worked like a charm - never needs updating either.

Carry along a "standard" handheld GPS unit in case you are out in the boonies.

Phones are very popular for nav, I prefer a real gps. But I drive in the boonies a lot.

You can also add this as an option on the 1lt. You get the Performance Data recorder to for $1700. This software downloadis a great option but will likely still cost $700 by the time you figure the 2 hour download time.

So, 99.9% of phones actually has gps built in. Also, Google Maps allows you to store areas you may travel to as offline maps so when you lose cellular, you can still get around. I use it all the time on my motorcycle because I ride in the country where cellular is weak so I don’t get lost.

That's good information to know, I guess I'm used to using a GPS unit. Using the car Nav seems simpler to me, I guess I will try the phone nav and see which works better.
In the peoples republic of New York they frown upon even touching a cellphone while driving.
On the bikes I have Garmins mounted for navigation, waterproof and durable.
