Are there any dealerships who have base models for sale?
Hmm, there will be when they stop taking orders from customers. Currently cars are being delivered to folks who placed orders before last June! Some of the large forum dealers are taking orders for 2021s! If you'd like a 2021 by perhaps Christmas may have to place your order now! You can buy a stripped Base model for MSRP.
I think right now, base cars for sale at dealers are about as common as hen's teeth.
Odd to have a car at a dealer. GM has been filling customer ordered cars. The local dealer in our town has an allocation for 4. The 1st went for $20,000 over MSRP (because someone offered) and the other what they were asking $12,000 over MSRP. Not sure what the price is for the last 2 allocations. They are a large Chevy, BMW, Mercedes Dealer and just bought the Nissan dealership in town. BUT this is truck country NOT Vettes, so they don't sell. many. Always have one in the showroom to pull folks in.
A fellow in our club said his friend in then western part of the state somehow has a few on order for their dealership and was asking $20,000 over MSRP. As my friend said, you can ask anything and with the current economic situation who knows.
For fun, just checked Kerbeck the largest volume Vette dealer. They always have 1LT's in stock. They only have six 2019's coupes in stock and one manual LT1 for $49,100. No Verts. All 2019's will soon be gone and no Corvettes for sale. They are taking orders for 2021 C8s now.
^^^^
Perhaps your local dealer BUT Kerbeck, the largest Vette dealer in the country usually has over 200 Vettes in stock (far fewer 2019 C7's now and NO C8s in stock as they are filling customers placed orders!) They always have low or no optioned manual cars (because they are the cheapest.) They stock what people buy!
SIDEBAR
The C8 will be my 6th Vette, I have ordered every one made "just for me in Bowling Green," all Daily Drivers! I have ONLY driven standard shifts for my DD in 60 years! I find it funny when folks quote the percent of folks buying standard shifts as that is what they want. One reason (NOT MINE) is for some, they have been cheaper! My 1st Corvette was a 1988 where the Doug Nash supplied 4 speed manual with 2 speed overdrive in the tailshaft cost exactly the same as the automatic! They only sold ~15% standard shifts that year so some folks buying on price got the cheapest Vette with their preferred automatic. (That data verifiable in the Corvette Black Book.)
When the C8 demand stabilizes, you will be able to get the best discount from Kerbeck (and a few of the other forum dealers.) It's a no hassle way to buy a Vette. The price is what you see on their website. If you want to order, exactly what you want, "made for you in Bowling Green," you'll get the same discounts. Like my 2017 Grand Sport as will be my C8, bought from them and delivered to a local small Chevy Dealer who accepted what GM calls Courtesy Delivery. I pay Kerbeck and it gets shipped directly from Bowling Green to my local dealer. In my case I pay the local dealer $350! The Service Manager is happy as is their super Corvette Tech as they hope to get my service business. They also get paid by GM, as would the selling dealer, for the car preparation. The fact that their sales manager or salesman did not make a commission on the sale is not their concern!
