The hole is there for a reason. It is not a mistake. It is not due to a last minute design change. It's not supposed to have anything in it on the coupe. Why is it there? Well, thanks to our friend, Harlan Charles, we now know that it is for a cooling line bracket that is used only on the convertible. Yes, it's simply where the bracket attaches to the valve cover.
