I drilled pilot holes into the four little squares on the panel. They matched the license plate holes. License plate bends in the middle and points slightly downward.
Do you remember what size screws you put on and I assume from your comment all 4 were needed and not just the top ones? Thanks, Sam
You do not have to drill the bosses.
Bend the plate to match the curve of the mounting area with the plate holes lining up with the bosses.
Use self tapping license plate screws on the bosses.
Cover the heads with fastener caps.
great idea! I have never seen those license plate caps. I’ll look on Amazon. Do you know the size of the screw you used?

These are great screws and a great plan. I will be using something similar.
As an engineer who designs plastic components for a living, I'd advise everyone to drill a small pilot hole for these types of screws. The hole should be a little smaller than the size of the solid part of the screw... the diameter at the base or root of the threads. This will allow the threads to engage the plastic without too much stress. Same as pre-drilling in wood. Good luck!
