These can be difficult with SOME systems. It may take several tries. Or, it may need a specific way to set up with your own garage door opener.
Its not a GM product. Its a Homelink product. You can contact Homelink directly. I've had similar problems with Ferrari.
Once it does work its fantastic. But getting it to work can be difficult as there are a lot of different devices to raise the doors and open the gates.
Homelink can be finicky. Make sure the garage door opener is compatible to Homelink first. Some older ones aren’t. Most these days you can just hold the remote a couple inches from the visor and hit both buttons at the same time to program. While other openers have a learn button you need to activate before programming.
Are you hitting the learn button before holding the remote to copy?. Sometimes you release and hit the remote a second time. The light on the door opener usually flashes as soon as it recognizes the homelink.
PRO TIP: Hold the buttons only while programming. Click the button to activate the door. If you hold the button to activate the door you will make the car think you are trying to re-program it and will never get it to work!
USING THE GARAGE DOOR REMOTE:
· Press the HomeLink button until the light above the buttons blinks slowly.
· While still holding the HomeLink button, also press and hold the button on your garage door remote until the HomeLink button blinks rapidly. (Hold the remote next to the HomeLink buttons while doing this.)
· Release both buttons after rapid blinking occurs.
· Test the system by clicking (don't hold it!) the button inside your car and waiting for the door to respond.

USING THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER:
· Press and release your garage door opener learn button.
· Within 30 seconds, press and hold the HomeLink button in your car.
· Holding the HomeLink button will connect the car to the opener’s signal.
· If the pairing was successful, the light on your LiftMaster machine will blink once.
· Test the system by clicking (don't hold it!) the button inside your car and waiting for the door to respond.
It's related to the type of garage door opener you have. I also have relatively new Liftmasters, and it's as simple as method #1 in the above post. You just use the remote that came with the unit and Homelink buttons as above.
Other types are more complicated and require using the "learn button" on the head unit, and running up and down a ladder to the vehicle within a certain number of seconds.
If the clicker does not work go to the Smart or Lean button on the Garage door . You have 30 seconds to go up ladder and then to car and hit your button on the visor or better to have two people.

I can program one liftmaster to button 1 on the homelink with both methods, but no luck on the other liftmaster for my 2nd door? customer service is off until the stay at home order is lifted.
Programming Instructions
Process: Reprogram One Button Vehicle: 2020 Chevrolet Corvette
Position the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink® surface keeping the HomeLink® indicator light in view.
Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the desired HomeLink® button and hand held transmitter button. During programming, your hand-held transmitter may automatically stop transmitting. Continue to press and hold the desired HomeLink® button while you press and re-press (“cycle”) your hand-held transmitter every two seconds until the frequency signal has been learned. The indicator light will flash slowly and then rapidly after several seconds upon successful training. DO NOT release until the HomeLink® indicator light flashes slowly and then rapidly. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons may be released. (The rapid flashing indicates successful training.)
Press and hold the trained HomeLink® button and observe the indicator light.
If the indicator light is solid/continuous, training is complete and your device should activate when the HomeLink® button is pressed and released.
If the indicator light blinks rapidly for 2 seconds and then turns a solid/continuous light, proceed with the following training instructions for a rolling code device. A second person may make the following steps quicker and easier. Please use a ladder or other device. Do not stand on your vehicle to perform the next steps.
At the receiver (motorhead unit), locate the “learn” or “smart” button (usually near where the hanging antenna wire is attached to the unit). If there is difficulty locating the training button reference the owner’s manual.
Press and release the “learn” or “smart” button (the name and color of the button may vary by manufacturer). NOTE: Once the button is pressed, there are 30 seconds in which to initiate the next step.
Return to the vehicle and firmly press and hold the trained HomeLink® button for two seconds and release. Repeat the “press/hold/release” sequence up to 3 times to complete the training process.

Did mine today with a 15+ Sears Garage Door Opener. After several tries with steps 1-3, I had to go to steps 4-6. Success with 30 seconds plenty of time.
I retrofit Homelink transmitters to both our ‘16 Jeep Wrangler & ‘16 Mitsubishi Outlander that did not come with that option. I also also retrofit Homelink into my previous ‘12 GS & my current ‘11 Z06 has the Lear Car2U system. I have fairly new (late 2016) Genie Intellicode openers with back-up battery option on all garages & a Mighty Mule solar-powered driveway gate.
To program both the Homelink & Lear systems my vehicles had to be outside & facing the garage. I initially tried programming them when they were in the garage but no luck. As soon as I pulled them out they programmed the 1st time.
For the gate, the Homelink programmed by pressing the gate remote button near the Homelink transmitter, but for the Lear system I had to press the transmitter buttons in sequence to match the dip switch positions inside the gate remote.
I just bought a 2006 C6 with the 3-button Remote opener on the visor. This is a vehicle I purchased as a salvage car and I have been very successful at rebuilding it. According to what my manual said I had a Car2U system. I tried following the instructions in the manual. I was able to get the unit to Program mode by pushing the outside 2 buttons, but could not get the unit to operate my gate (not a garage door) no matter what I tried. I even talked to the folks at Mighty Mule and we spent about an hour trying things that they knew but could not get it to respond to the Corvette. Mind you, I have 4 other vehicles of various brands and a couple of pocket remotes that all work well. Just the Vette wouldn't program. I was on the verge of purchasing a new visor thinking that mine was dead. Today I was just snooping around on the internet. I had tried the "learCar2U.com" address and had no luck. Today I just tried Car2U and found a direct site I could hook up with. There I found 2 new alternative methods of programming to try. I won't go into details here; you can go there yourself to get full instructions. To give you an idea of what they are, one is the same basic idea of using the Learn button on my Mighty Mule Gate Controller. That method did not help. However, there is another method that allows you to program to a fixed frequency that matches a pocket clicker code set up by reading the 8 dip switches inside the pocket clicker and manually entering them into the visor remote. It is a little involved so that is why I recommend you go to Car2U.com and print them out. It took me 3 tries to get the code properly entered, but it finally responded like the instructions said it should and the gate now opens and closes like a charm. The car transmitter is more powerful than what is in two other cars so the unit is pretty strong. I am finally happy that the remote is working. I hope you have the same luck.
I love my 2006 C6. Finally a fun car for a guy in his 70's.
Update 04/25/2020... Sorry I gave a wrong lead on the website I used. I started out on one site and forgot that I ended up on another with the above solution. Here is the correct link the the instructions that I used which worked for me: https://veterangaragedoor.com/diy/ho...-car2u-system/

I would like to buy a receiver for the car2u system.
but I could not find one on the internet.
does anyone know where to buy one ?
thank you very much !
Mike
I erased the code on my liftmaster side opener (hold the purple learn button for six seconds on the lift motor unit until the led goes out) and then reprogrammed all the cars to the opener again. No problems
I had to buy a bridge, they call it that plugs into the wall and program through it. It took me a couple of hours and google to figure this out. It was a brand new Chamberlain opener as well.

I might have one of these sitting in my desk, I can get back to you if you want.
I tried everything but no results finally had to find a hand held remote . Held the hand held remote button down and held the cars center button down until the car quit flashing. Job done in 10 seconds.

I have old 'Genies' and simply used the 'learn' function cpuled with pressing desired homelink button. I have both an old switch activated and newer code changing type.
