Default Subjective C7/C8 thread

I think it’s fair to say the C8 is a superior platform to the C7.. however will it ever be/ is it considered to be a “hot rod/muscle car”?

The C8 looks like a great car but ITS NEEDS BETTER WHEELS and a MANUAL.

Neither the C7 nor the C8 are “muscle cars”... they are sports cars.

I wouldn’t say better honestly but different. Different experience. It’s like saying a fe 812 super fast isn’t as good as a 488 or the new replacement f8 tribute because the latter two are mid engine. A friend of a friend has both an 812 and a 458 days he Loves them both. Two different driving experiences.

That’s how I see the c7 vs c8.

I loved the look of the c7 when it came and and still love the look...while the c8 looks nice it’s just too European looking for me personally.

couple that with the fact that there is no manual and I’d rather have a c7z06 at this point than a c8...

should the c8 come as a manual I’m sure I’d give the z06 version a look.

with the fact that manuals are dying very quickly we might not even be able to find a production car in a manual in a few years

I loved the look of the C7 from the very first time I saw it. To this day, I feel the same way about it's looks. I didn't have that initial reaction to the looks of the C8 and still don't. Maybe I will grow to like it more over time, and maybe some day I will like it well enough to get one. But I am in no rush, and I don't want to say that it won't happen some day.

Yes, they are sports cars. However like SCCA AX can be classified as American Muscle, V8's and all.

C7 widebodies have much wider front tires, the C8 is even more portly, and the transmissions, set them apart.

According to Tadge the C7 was a clean sheet of paper design to get the best handling and performance possible with the front engine configuration within a given price range. That they needed to go to a mid engine installation to improve Corvette handling is mute testimony to the C7 being a sports car not a muscle car... (By all accounts, the Hellcat is a pure muscle car. Let's see if it can keep up with any C7 on the track! )
The C8 appears to be a magnificent machine in both performance and technology, but its design is a bit too European and its lines just don't seem to tie together like the C7. If it had a manual trans I could overlook the Transformer style aesthetics for its performance, but without a manual it's a non starter.

Purely rhetorical... nothing more. STAY WELL while pondering the "correct" answer.
