Tracked my Non-Z51 C8 with NPP on MSR, a local track in DFW area. Ambient temperature was around 86°.
In the 1st session it was set to track & manual mode, water temp got to 205°, gearbox oil temp got to 199°. In the 2nd run, it was set to track & auto, water temp got to 215°, gearbox oil got to 230° which is high, but no limp mode. I personally prefer using the paddles, but wanted to see how DCT performs in auto mode on track. Although tranny got too hot, C8 did a great job selecting the right gear in just about every situation.
Would be interesting to see how Non-Z51 does on track when it gets to high 90s. The extra heat exchanger in Z51 should help with tracking it in auto mode or higher temps. I don’t track my cars that often and don’t care for the rear spoiler, hence Non-Z51, but for heavy track use, Z51 is the way to go.
Brake pedal got spongy toward the end, but switching to race fluid should fix that. The car/tires communicate very well and give you fair warning before rear-end breaks loose. Overall, the car performed very well on all season tires and compare to my C7/Z06, I felt it cornered and handled better.
are you willing to risk a warranty breach by tracking a non-z51?\\
Back to the topic of non-z51, do we have any idea what the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are with the non-z51 rear gear ratio? I'm guessing 3.3 and 11.8.
I'm trying to find if there is any difference 0-60 times between the Z51 and non Z51. It seems there isn't any difference in 0-60 times despite what Chevy says (at least I think that due to a few answers I got from peeps testing).
