I signed up about a week ago and believed I have finally figured out how to ask a question on your site.
I am sure there is a tremendous amount of discussion on obtaining a C8. I had put a deposit down in January 2020 and was told to wait for the dealer to call me prior to ordering. The dealer called me in mid-March 2020 and I submitted my order a few days later and never heard from GM or the dealer. After pressing the dealer fairly hard I was told that his and a lot of other dealer allocations were slashed by better than 50% and I was on the wrong side of the 50%.
Since it appears the 2021 C8 should go into production about September 2020 I want to get on the list for a 2021.
Now the reason for this discussion: Since I have paid a deposit and placed an order I would think GM would reserve my place in line except it would be for a 2021 C8. Additionally, since the deposit and order was made in good faith I feel I should be charged the 2020 price for the 2021 C8, I am sure everyone is aware of the $4,000 price increase that GM put on the 2014 not too long after the cars were being delivered. Lastly, I am sure there are plenty of other folks that are in the same boat I am and would like to know what you folks are doing.
I am writing letters to the GM CEO and various Senior vice Presidents. I would really like to write directly to Corvette in Bowling Green, however, I can not find and names or addresses.
Any help or information on any of these subjects would be appreciated.

What? Didn't they increase the Z51 cost but it was offset by Npp and in 15 it increased by 1k or something?
Sounds like you need to talk to your dealer as you didnt put money down with GM you put $ down with the dealer. The dealer should let you know where you stand on their list are you #1 ...or #20. If you do not have a car on order with the plant 3000 or higher odds are it is going to be a 2021
Where you are "in line" is totally up to your dealer, not GM. 2020 orders that are not built when 2020 production ends are void and must be re-entered as a 2021 model year order. Historically, price protection applies to retail sold orders at 1100 for price increases for that model year. It does not cross model years, as a new order must be entered. I think Chevy is going to follow the pattern they used for the 2015 model. 2021 ordering starts in May and I don't think there will be a price increase announced until after those with 2020 orders are able to get 2021 orders entered. So, it is effectively price protected (but not technically price protected). That's how 2014 orders that did not get built were handled.
On your deposit, check any paperwork or email communications you have. There is a very good chance that your dealer breaks the contract by being unable to deliver a 2020 MY car and you are entitled to a full refund. Your letter writing will have no effect. Your contract is with your dealer, NOT GM.
Welcome aboard! I hate to tell you, but you can write whomever you wish, but it won't make a bit of difference as to what GM opts to do. What would pi** me was your dealer completely ignoring you when they learned things were going south for 2020s. All the best and enjoy whatever you end up getting... when you finally do! BE WELL!
Since I have paid a deposit and placed an order I would think GM would reserve my place in line except it would be for a 2021 C8. Additionally, since the deposit and order was made in good faith I feel I should be charged the 2020 price for the 2021 C8,
a) the deposit is between you and your dealer.
b) the dealer did not get an allocation from GM and cannot order said car.
c) a reasonable dealer would preserve your place in HIS line and continue to hold said place with current deposit.
d) dealer will not be able to order car until he gets an allocation from GM (2020 or 2021 possibly 2022 depending on how Covid19 wracks the country.)
e) there is no way GM will sell a hot car like 2021 C8 at the 2020 C8 cost.
You might get additional specifics if you post who your dealer is. As stated it's your dealer not GM. Some dealers treat their customers in line better than other's.
