I have it from a trusted source that the plant will start back up on the 18th, but units will be 2021 models. Approximately 2700 2020’s built. We’ll see what happens.

There are cars already on the line in various stages of completion. They have VINs and cannot be 2021. The are 2020's as dictated by the VIN. I would not place too much faith in your "trusted source"

Not sure how they can start building 2021s unless there is no price increase or they are offering price protection and/or they realign on the orders they are building. Some people may want to take advantage of the new packages for 2021.

Agreed.

OP I think they’ll build a few months of 2020s and switch over to 2021s in September.

Maybe he ment the next cars to be accepted.

I'm sure you could easily use almost all 2020 parts for 2021 but if it has a VIN it's a 2020. Also, GM hasn't even officially announced changes for 2021 or pricing, and has given no indication when orders can be accepted.

If they do a summer shut down I could see 2021 starting early after that, but a May start for 2021 is

Next cars to be accepted will be 2021's. They already announced no more 2020 SRE orders would be accepted.

2021 changes have been announced. They also announced that 2021 order books would open up in the second half of May. They have also announced 2021 production is planned to start 9/1. There have been threads with all of these items. This was all prior to factory shutdown.

Are you trying to say there aren't any 2020 Corvettes? It will be an extremely low production year, no big deal in how the world turns out. Very low numbers in 1970 too because it was a strike year, doesn't matter.

Perhaps your trusted source would like to place a wager on his facts?

2020s will be built for several more months. If your source said otherwise, I would no longer trust the source.

There are 64 working days from June 1 to August 29. 125 cars a day average gives you 8000 more 2020s.

How many cars are at 3000 and above?

That's a good question, actually. I personally think we'll see around 10,000 2020s built IF they get back to work by mid-May AND if there isn't another interruption.

I highly doubt they will start building 2021s early.

My guess is that all Verts will move from 2020 to 2021 but they will still make 2020's a few more months.

Yes. If your 2020 order does not get built by the end of 2020 MY production, a new order will have to be entered for a 2021 MY as the 2020 order becomes void. That new order can be whatever you want that is available for 2021 MY.
