Default Rocker panel extensions???

On the build page it states that these extensions help prevent rock and road debris damage however the only thing that changes is the color of the existing rocker panel on the build page. I can't really tell that the panel is actually larger than a C8 w/o the extension.

Anyone have this option or understand how far it extends from the side of the car? Will it actually help to prevent paint chipping?

It's a plastic cover that is textured just like the Z51 splitter. It's a touch on the gray side and not truly black. You have to drill holes on the bottom of the painted rocker and there is rivets and two sided tape to hold them.

Also, its a rubberized/plastic material. Like Phil said, its a cap that goes over the painted area. I thought it looked sort of cheap when I saw it.

The plastic is identical to the Z51 front splitter. Fits like a glove. Get it.

Looks cheap and does absolutely nothing to protect the lower rocker panels from rock ships, Im speaking from experience.

In all due respect, you are mistaken. The rocker extension raps around the rocker panel and is attached to the bottom of the rocker pane with 5 pop rivets. So it DOES provide some protection to the rocker panels. They attached just behind the front wheel and run almost the length of the rocker panel.

However, about of foot in front of the rear wheel well, the body flairs out and is exposed to rocks. I have Xpel in that area and has been hit with rocks and has small tears. No paint damage.

The PFYC website states "PLEASE NOTE: These Jack Pucks will only work on cars WITHOUT side skirts."

Amazing, but I contacted the one of the manufacturers ) http://www.eliteengineeringusa.com/c...pads-set-of-4/ ) of the jacking pads and they were unable to provide information on their own product regarding fit. I liked this version better because they are taller.

Has anyone tried the aluminum lift pucks yet that has side rocker panel extension (side skirts) option installed on their C8? It would be nice to know if they fit or get in the way of the skirt. My thinking is that if the taller version, it should clear if the shorter one hits somehow. I don't see how these would not work because they go down unless the diameter contacts the skirt somehow. If you look at the images, the round diameter should miss contact with the panels at the "yellow" dot areas. It would be nice if someone has had the opportunity to confirm or say they don't. If they don't, how does one use a lift without causing damage? Isn't the GM authorized supplied lift extensions at dealerships similar - round extensions?

That is my concern with the GM "extensions!" In our rural area with no curbs and often no shoulders, lots of small pebbles, debris come onto the road. With my 2014 Z51 the GM heavy "plastic protection" which went from the center of the door up in front of the rear wheel was marked within a month! I added full length side skirts which stopped all marking. They let me remove the already discolored, marked GM "Plastic Protection. " After3 years the rockers or front of the rear wheel wells looked new!

When I bought my 2017 Grand Sport ordered the Stage 2 Aero option that has full length side skirts. Remove the small amount of GM plastic protection and in 3 years not one mark on the rockers OR the bottom rear fender brake duct opening!

I'll get some kind of full length side skirts BUT not that GM product that only covers the protrusion ABOVE the rocker panels!

An Aftermarket Product That Would Work to Stop Pebbles

GM's Now Constrained Side Skirt. C7 Carbon Selling in Painted Carbon Flash OR Visible Carbon Fiber- Probably What I'll Get

^^^^
That exposed area is where I had problems with my 2014 Z51. In fact the C7 GM "Protective Plastic" went from the center of the door back to up to the front of the rear wheel well. No issues ahead of the door center. When I added full length side skirts was able to remove the GM Plastic Protection, which by then was marked and discolored on the edges.

Issue is The Area Circled in Yellow is Where the Problem Occurs. As You Said You Have "Plastic Wrap" added. Not a Fan so Full Length Side Skirts Are My Choice.

This Is Where I Had a Lot of Marking From Pebbles With My 2014 Z51. GM Knew Where Plastic Protection Was Needed!

On My Current Grand Sport with Full Length Stage 2 Aero Side Skirts, I Was Able to Remove the Discolored on the Edges GM Plastic. In 3 Years NOT One Mark on my Rocker Panes or the Lower Rear Fender Brake Duct Opening, Some Say Their's Have Chips. Paid $3000 for those full length CF side skirts (and splitter) versus the 2/3 plastic one that are standard on mt Grand Sport and Z06.

I agree the GM rocker extensions don't go all the way to the rear wheel wells. Rocks will get kicked up and potentially damage the paint back there. The GM rocker extensions are, in my view, partially effective in that regard but mostly cosmetic.

I have Xpel covering the rockers up to the bottom body line on the door. Its runs from the front wheel well all the way back to the rear wheel well. Xpel will get damaged and will need to be replaced periodically especially the rural Central Texas roads that have pebbles. I had to do that twice on my C7 and just believe it will be a regular annual maintenance item.

I jack the car up in that cut out. The frame is right there. I also use a hockey puck on my jack. No need for the aluminum pucks in my opinion.
