1st mod is to de-badge all the cheezy GM/Corvette emblems.

The first mod should be lowering it, these things have the typical ugly wheel gap that all generations have suffered from and reducing that gap greatly improves it's looks, IMHO.

I am thinking of spray painting the exhaust tips flat black or perhaps just replacing the tips with black, round tips. The stock system is actually better than most of the available systems. Especially considering the superior heat shielding.

I think that the best exhaust related mod for now is the FabSpeed sport cats.

I know that, but a lot of people on here are going to order the Z51 package. And if you have the front lift option they have a kit available to lower the front end too:

The day I bring my C8 Z51 home, low dust brake pads (so I don't have to clean the rotors.)

Have already purchased GM front and rear splash guards that will go on when the wheels are off changing brake pads (did both on my 2017 Grand Sport 1st day.)

Since the side skirts were constrained will order these painted carbon flash as soon as I get word it's under construction

Black floor mats will be ordered as soon as they are available, either GM, Weathertech or GM Jake Logo made by Weathertech (can't live with Natural Dipped floor mats in a DD)

So far I have not had an issue and have watched them look as I pass!

Here is a PDF with some documented proof from a town in Northern CA with some interesting probability validation over a year test with ~8000 residents in this rural area participating: http://netwelding.com/Deer_Whistle.pdf

SIDEBAR
For those who don't like opening PDFs, this is the key test, although the PDF has several:Like anything else on the internet you can find completely conflicting data. Let’s start with some of the Pro’s for the effectiveness of Deer Whistles (my comments are in bold italics):
  1. A 2003 report by the County of Modac California was most compelling. First it was paid for by the California Office of Traffic Safety (not a Deer Whistle Company!!). Second it involved a real world tests in a county with lots of deer and a previous record of many deer/vehicle collisions. Their method was simple. They advertised to give free deer whistles to as many who would install them until they hit ½ the cars in the county. They only reached 1648 out of the 8300 registered vehicles in the county but that was enough to reach statistically sound results.
Summarizing the results: In a two year period from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2002 the cars without the Deer Whistles hit 29 Deer. Those with the Deer whistles hit none! Since there were more folks without whistles you would expect them to hit more. But using the simple ratio of cars with and without to deer hit by those without yields 1648/6652 x 29 there should have been 7.2 Deer Hit by cars with whistles if they were not effective. For statisticians, they used a chi square test which essentially says what is the probability that the whistles were effective versus the probability the results found were just a random occurrence. It says there is a 99.6% probability the whistles were effective and the results are not a random occurrence!

The whistles tested were 418 electronic and 1230 air powered. The air powered were two types. One of a type I had used on my S-10 trucks for 10 years. The other was another type with two holes, Save-A-Deer. I decided to buy and install both!

If I can ever get the thing built I think my first mod will be a PCV line oil separator.

Boy, I'd be very careful! GM has spent a lot of time and engineering effort improving oil particle and vapor separation and returning to the crackcase on the latest dry sump. In my 2017 Grand Sport I added the same high quality can I had on my 2014 Z51. Collected less than 1/2 the oil/1000 miles! There are many new lines and internal baffles GM added to the improved PCV system. I made measurements before I installed the can on the Grand Sport using a "do no harm moto!" Even if it is only as good as the newer dry sump system I would not consider adding. With more development time on the LT2 I'd be confident there is even less oil vapor, small burnt oil particles that came from the spinning crack hitting the hot piston bottoms etc etc.

Here is the advanced PVC system on my 2017 Grand Sport dry sump:

Measured "pressure and vaccum" in system before installing on my 2017 Grand Sport!

Does your 2017 GS have direct fuel injection? This is my concern. Everything I've been reading about direct injection engines says that they are very subject to bad oil residue buildup on the intake valves from the PCV vapors. Went on to read of the PIA in removing this buildup. My understanding is that (I think) Toyota is the only one with a solution (a secondary injection spray on the intake valve, or something like that) to keep the valves clean.

Funny, that is where a number of us where when the C7 was announced in 2013. I got an early 2014 Z51 (built September 2013) and read about BMW and Ferrari have "coking" issues with their high power DI engines. They had several years experience before GM! Big difference in a high performance engine with DI than a grocery getter that doesn't see much WOT! Particularly the large diameter intake valves in the LT1 where they can get very hot as most heat is extracted from the valve seat and conduction though a large valve is slow.

I added a quality Elite catch can and like many (who didn't track) collected about 1 oz/1000 miles. That was 1oz that didn't go past the hot intake valves and possibly bake on! Admittedly there have been few problems reported with even the early LT1's so the Chief Corvette Engineer, Tadge's comment on this forum that they find it's "mostly cosmetic" may be fairly accurate. However a few gearheads, like myself, look at internal "cosmetics" like some who are OCD about fingerprints on the body! Built the Olds engine in my 1st car 60 years ago and assembled the 502/502 BB in my street rod 20 years ago. Saw many engine internals in-between! I'd like the backs of the intake valves to be as clean as possible!

In addition, although GM said "mostly a cosmetic issue" for the 2014's they spent a lot of engineering time improving that "no problem 2104/2015 dry sump PCV system!" Probably just had extra engineering time and money to waste!

This PDF I wrote on the subject will give you more info than you may want: http://netwelding.com/Catch_Can.pdf

It mentions the Toyota engine with both DI and Port Injection! The ZR1 has both but to provide extra fuel at WOT and high boost.

I have a 2015 escalade with 6.2 L V8, DI with AFM with 223,000 miles. The C8 engine will be okay.

Mods already done:
1. Red engine cover with stainless socket head cap screws and washers. Also ceramic coated this.
2. Diamond floor mats
3. PPF and ceramic coated

Mods in progress:
1. Bluetooth engine lighting system.

Possible future mods.
1. Lowering 1" (retained lift system).
2. Carbon fiber front Z51 spoiler. I would build my own mold and lay this up myself in black and orange weave carbon. $1500 for aftermarket ones, considering it's likely to be damaged is a bit much. If I build my own mold I believe I can produce for less than $500. (I am an engineer and have experience building carbon fiber and fiberglass parts in the past for my work.
3. Carbon side skirts (same as above)
4. Larger Z06 style (when it's available) rear wing. Due to complexity I don't believe I can produce this myself. I also don't particularly like the High Mount wing and would want something a little lower. Possibly even just a lexan extension for the stock Z51 wing would be nice to see also.
5. Wheels on stock size rubber.

When you have a patent, can get very high margins! However anyone can apply for one, takes the patent office ~2 to 3 years to give a final yea or nay! We’ll see who supplies for a lot less!
