No, I think it’s so far out because it was one of the last 2020 orders entered. If production loosely follows FIFO, then it makes sense that an order that get entered near the end (March) will get produced near the end (OCT).
I don't k ow what an FIFO is but 7 months minus 2.... So 5 months to build a car? I have seen others with an end of March allocation order and they were Aug.
If he was the last order placed this would mean GM plans to make less than 425 a week. (not regular production for 1 **** and no 2nd shift... Makes no sense!!!! If anything it's under promise now to say in a few weeks J/K your car will be built in Aug.
im in the same boat as you. 3000 since March and a TPW in October puts me close to a winter delivery. Not sure I’d get a deposit refund to cancel
My Dealer ( a small one in Nevada ) said they would be delighted to give me my $5,000.00 deposit back.that I put
up last JULY = "We can get $7,000 over sticker from another Chevrolet Dealer"
The Dealer back then would only take Deposits from Customers who had previously purchased New Corvettes from their Dealership.
I have bought a number of Corvettes from them since moving to Nevada in the 80's
I have owned 47 Corvettes since early 60's = My current one will probably be my LAST!
Not blaming GM or the Dealer......I am just TOO OLD for the Drama.

Union jargon? Actually, First In, First Out, commonly known as FIFO, is an asset-management and valuation method in which assets produced or acquired first are sold, used, or disposed of first. For tax purposes, FIFO assumes that assets with the oldest costs are included in the income statement's cost of goods sold (COGS). The remaining inventory assets are matched to the assets that are most recently purchased or produced.
I got an answer back on my TPW , which was March 23rd, and was told from a reliable source with the Corvette Folks in BG, that because of the slow re-start up and with my vin number, #3896 and being at 3400 broadcast, it will be at least two weeks from today before my car would even hit the production line.
My dealer was telling me right after the plant shutdown, he insisted that my car was sitting right at the head of the line or maybe even already built, even though when I originally ordered my car back in December of 2019, I was told it would be July of 2020 before the car would be built because of ALL the other orders ahead of my order.
Then I heard back from him in mid February that my car was at 3000, (I had to ask on this forum what the Heck that meant?), then I was at 3400 Broadcast with the TPW of 3/23, All because of "Constraints",(another term I had to learn on this forum), from the factory on C8's that were more heavily optioned than mine. I was really excited until the dreaded Plant Shutdown! So it looks like now, I'm back to getting my car in July.... and you know what? I'm just tickled Pink with that.
I also ordered one (a 2LT coupe with R8C) for my wife back in December, the last allocation the dealer had (hasn't been picked up by factory yet). Been at 1100 ever since and no information despite numerous calls to anyone.

For what its worth he didn't say it *was* union jargon but it *was like* union jargon.
Another example is its use in computer programming for data handling since computers were invented.
A side question - Why do the folks in Canada get TPW dates and we in the US don't?
But wasn't Chevy giving TPW's at 3000 in the US then they stopped and switched to 3400? I thought that was what I originally read last year, and then it changed this year.
Could be wrong!

Yes, there’s no US law that forbids an organization from informing a customer when his/her order will be produced. JF in MI was attempting to make a joke.

As this is an automotive forum and we deal with the UAWeasels I thought I would keep the reference close.
Just got my TPW (March Allocation) 10/19 Not really excited about getting a car nearly 2 model years old. (22 models of other makes Jan1 2021) Hoping it moves up. If not may cancel and wait few years. Already have another fun car.

looks like a lot of those that were in with March allocations will be getting TPWs in October. Not ideal but what can ya do 🙃
I just got off the phone with Shane, as I'm getting a Museum delivery, and he told me he doesn't have a TPW yet. He told me to check back with him in mid June. I called him because he had emailed me the other day inquiring as to what I want engraved on my delivery plaque.
