The lights turn on when you lock and unlock your doors, only stay on for a short period of time. I thought you would have been able to manually turn them on, wrong. The carbon fiber sides do look go on the plus side.

That is what is behind the real cost
I am sure you could wire in a power switch to the lights if desired.
If I were to do it over that's what I would do, hard wire a light package. I would have liked the capability to turn it on at night so you could see the motor.

The engine package is a nice touch. I really like it.

You want to be able to see the motor while you drive? Why, so you can make sure it is still running? So day and night viewing? Different strokes I guess.

Yes, I thought the same thing. Makes sense that you should be able to turn them on manually like the interior lights.
I'll wait for aftermarket on the engine appearance package--and decide then if I want to buy it.
I've been fabbing' twill-weave carbon composite/epoxy resin and Aramid parts for years, for my CanAm cars. For the life of me, I can't believe why GM (and others) are charging so much for carbon composite parts, even if you go with pre-preg and bag it. It is not hard to do, and granted the materials aren't cheap, they still don't warrant the commercial prices I am seeing. It must be the "aura" of having carbon composite. What really gets me is that a lot of folks are buying ($$$) composite materials only for looks alone (i.e., the engine appearance package) rather than the real advantage of carbon composites (light weight and strength).
As for engine compartment lighting, I built my own for the C8 using LEDs and kitchen appliance parts. Only problem I have is when I go to my refrigerator for "a cool one", the appearance lights on my Corvette in the garage come on....!
I have it, not worth the money. I thought you would be able to turn the lights on the engine compartment, cant do it.
I added it to my options list.I liked the look when I built my car on the configurator..Of course there's always the chance my car (currently @3000)may not get built. So if I have to reorder a 2021,I may drop it and add MSRC...then add an aftermarket EAP later.
