Although the C8 is very nice looking in most ways, I think this was probably the best looking design that was floating around for the C8 quite a while back, anyone agree?
Hoping the C9 will have similar lines. The C8 is going to be the cross-over generation moving from gas to electric per GM's earlier EV timeline commitment. Thus far, the best looking C8s that I've seen all have after-market wheels.

Yep the C9, which will be an EV for sure considering what Mary Barra has set GM's direction as all EVs and stylist have a free hand. With the government providing GM (and others) big financial incentives and trying to kill fossil fuels she has shifted Corvette engineers to EVs (not specifically for the C9 BUT all EV's.) She has invested in combination with a Korea company billions in battery production in OH.
I find the comment about "needing" aftermarket Vette wheels interesting and shows why there are so many aftermarket options. I've found what I consider good looking OEM wheels for the 6 Vettes I've had since my first, a 1988!
Yep the C9 can be very different in style, not constrained by coolant rads, heavy transmissions etc.
I find comments about "needing" aftermarket Vette wheels interesting. Agree wheels are a styling factor more to make your car different, IMO! Always found an OEM wheel option for my 6 Vettes I liked! BUT often bought them for cars NOT just for style but to make Plus 1 etc.
Funny my 1st car, a 1941 coupe built in 1959 went Minus 1 with wider 15 inch front to offset the heavy Olds engine I added replacing the 16 inch OEM wheels I retained on the rear! First with smaller diameter front than rear! Spun aluminum wheel covers were the "in thing" back in the day!
My 1st new car, 1967 Corvair was bought with every HD option Chevy offered, i.e. quick steering, HD springs, shocks, sway bar, metallic brakes, needed 14 inch Plus 1 wheels and radial tires (when Plus 1 and low profile were not words used at the time.) Took lots of measurement and searching!
Put copies of the popular Minilites on my 260Z
Even during the gasoline shortage when I could only buy every other day my Dodge Colt Turbo with it's twin stick 8 speed needed Plus 1 wheels and Perilli P7s!
My street rod, built when I retired (well semi in 1999) had custom wheels that matched style front and the tubed very wide rears that held 420 section width Micky Thomsons.
For all 6 DD Vettes found wheels I like!
My first Vette, a 1988, was ordered with the GM offered Plus 1 wheels. Found out the cast center section was fillet welded to the fabricated barrel when GM sent a recall soon after I got it. Turned out some cars with those optional wheels left BG with NO WELDS! Like most steel wheels the centers are pressed into the barrels and then welded. Since my business is in the welding field I checked my own! All welds were there but gas shielding was far from good, all had a black oxidized finish!
If that was what got launched last July, I'd be driving something else right now. Has the face of an angry fish, the side windows look like letter slots, the wheels are just stupid too big riding on rubber bands so it would ride like a lumber wagon and have bent wheels before it got home. Hard pass.
Doesn't look like a vette, so absolutely not and Jerry all of those wheels are ugly except the dodge. I liked the wheels on the C3 and C7 Z06 wheels.
I laugh at the wheel comment! Perhaps because I have been a gearhead since ~13 and technical I think many of the aftermarket Vette wheels I see posted are foolish! Many buy them to stick-out of the car like some of the Asian cars kids drive or foolish Trucks around here! Foolish and loads the wheel bearings and screws up the careful handling GM designed!
I don't care what folks think of my wheels I buy them for what I like and keep GM's design offsets and carefully engineered handling!
Funny, Street Rod Still winning trophies after 22 years. Glad we don't have 20 year old judges!
Back-In-The-Day folks would ROTFL if you're wheels were sticking out of the car!
Form Follows Function, i.e. Foolish! GM worked hard to get 60% rear weight to not handle like my 60% rear weight Corvair! Tadge said it took Porsche decades to eliminate Oversteer and they had to get it right the 1st time. He said because of his Dad's Older Porsche "Oversteer" was his biggest fear when they were designing the C8! Doesn't take much to screw it up! But folks try!

Agree, the front looks like that fish in the Disney animated movie.
In my early 20's, I envisioned I'd be driving the production version of this mid-engine prototype in a couple of years. Five Corvettes (1963, 1975, 1980, 1990, and 1991) and fifty years later, my mid-engine C8 will be built this week (TPW 04/11/22)!

On a scale of 1-10 my odds of a buy would be 1, even if I hit the jackpot powerball. Be it ICE or E/V version. Design staff did the C8 right and demand reflects it.
Speaking of Powerball jackpot win... This would be on order
The one item that looks out of place and distracting is the round circle on the rear quarter panel (fuel cap or EV plug cover).
Cant this eyesore be hidden on the rear end or behind a tail light like on my old ....
Safety in rear-end impacts eliminated the rear (tail light and behind license plate) gas fillers. Too many gas leaks and fires. Some EVs do have the charging port on the rear (the new Kia and Hyundai, I believe).
