Default Order dates moving drastically

Wanted to share this, because it clearly shows the orders in the system are not stable. The only orders that have been sequenced are through July 20th. I was at 3100 with a 3/30 TPW prior to COVID. Upon reopening, I had a TPW of August 3rd...which sort of makes sense. Today I went to October 23rd. Non Z51, Arctic White 3LT.

Chevy is seeing huge fluctuations in dates and they are changing daily. So until your car is sequenced, and if it is beyond July 20th. No information you receive is set in stone.

I'm not an apologist for GM, and lord knows, having worked for AT&T/Bell Atlantic/Verizon, for 35 years, I've been on the front lines of corporate BS... but understand, these people are dealing with a bunch of crap, and most of them are trying to do their best.... they hate this as much as you do so a bit of sympathy goes a long way.

No idea, but may be a supplier issue - depends on configuration chosen?

This is why GM is so reluctant to give anyone much info on production. It's so fluid right now with suppliers and GM themselves, any date they give people probably won't be right and just opens them up to get crushed for it.

3/30 TPW prior to COVID. Upon reopening, I had a TPW of August 3rd...which sort of makes sense. Today I went to October 23rd..................How does a 2 month delay cause you to get your car built 7 months later. Where did the 5 months disappear to? And yet people that placed their orders months after you already have their car built. Just makes zero sense to me, and the more I hear the less sense it makes.

Agree....but I don't think anyone here knows the real explanation to the logic being used to build cars.

Went 3000 in December with a 4/13 TPW due to Rapid Blue. Post COVID it was 6/22 then a few weeks ago it moved to 7/20 and is now 3300 and still 7/20.

Most (perhaps all) HTC's aren't going to make the cut for 2020. IF (and that's a BIG IF) any HTC's are produced as 2020's, the first buyers won't see the car until VERY late September or early October considering QC holds and shipping.

No apologist here either, but did you ever see "the world chart" of where parts come from for the Corvette? It's large, so as not to exaggerate. Probably hundreds of suppliers, dozens/hundreds more sub-sub contractors to the actual suppliers, etc.

Most are small shops by comparison to just about anything. One pandemic, one closure, one cutting off of THEIR supply of raw- or produced-materials can impact them unlike a very big company that makes its own parts. BTW, which GM no longer does---make most of its own parts. That means, most/every large company is beholden to every one of those parts that COMES to them from a vendor/supplier and is not MADE by them. That is called outsourcing, cutting headcount, reducing overhead, selling off plants and equipment, JIT, and other acronyms all rolled into one.

Plus, you/we have no idea how many parts or small companies are "shared" across the entire range of GM brands and models. Meaning, if an unseen part is used on 50% of ALL GM vehicles, and the company has to allocate whatever number of these parts they get, it means C8s may be getting a small percentage of what they actually need.

The last, and probably most important cause could be (stress: COULD BE) something was found to be wrong, made wrong, looks wrong, is wrong---and "they" want to correct it before you have to correct it by taking it in to the dealer.

That's my made-up story. Most of you know it's something like this, if not exactly. I'm sure there'll be some who will say it's all wrong. Maybe so...but you're still not going to get your car, nor are you going to find out exactly what the cause is since that would open the company up to incessant criticism beyond what is happening now. And they don't want that.

You have other alternatives, and they hope you don't take them.

AO Roads.... not to get too philosophical, but... we are coming to grips with the complexity and inter-dependance of our economy, and society, and we take it for granted....

But if Joe doesn't have the bolt, and Bob doesn't have the nut, and Stupid, Dumbass Junior doesn't have the wrench.... nothing gets done....

Careful, that kind of logic is going to earn you the patented "eyeroll" from Jake.
