I know Chevy has given us all so many options to make this car our own, and we all have different tastes. While I love a few of the 12 colors, I could live with any of them. The same goes with the wheels, spoiler, and other choices. However, I simply do not get the whole stripes deal? I guess I could imagine 30 and under people liking the stripe, but the vast majority of those with stripes have to be much older than that. Is it the racing look?
Full transparency, I do like the black Stinger stripe on the hood of C7's, but I do not consider that a stripe. To me, it is more of an accent color. Again, I know we all have different tastes, but please explain the allure of the stripes.
Ford and Shelby popularized them, and Chevy needed to keep up. Thus, there's a long-standing tradition of stripes on Corvettes and Camaros too.
Thank you. This is an excellent article and response. Much appreciated. I know my dad had pinstripes on the sides of his Nissan 260Z, 280Z, and 28ZX cars in the 70's and early 80's, but those appear to be long gone. Though, dealers will still add them and add the upcharge.
Ordered my c8 with the carbon flash racing stripes. Wasn’t a fan of them on the c7, but absolutely loved the c7 GS with the heritage package stripe. So much so that I bought one in 2017 as soon as I saw it in person lol. Sports cars and racing stripes just go together! If your a retiree and just put around town for coffee and a car show maybe not, but if you drive the car to it’s capability, hell yea rock them stripes! I’m 39 btw, my sports cars all see some type of racing on occasion.
Some like Chocolate and some like Vanilla. I prefer Butter Pecan.
As for loving a few of the colors, I'm totally undecided on which of the few. GM could make it so much easier if they painted one Millennium yellow, just for me. Surely they must have some leftover MYC5 paint or did they give it all to Rari ?
Seems I'm the only one in that camp. As the saying goes, there's one in every crowd. But I like it (w/o stripes please).
Cant imagine a 69 Z28 or 70’s SS Chevelle without the stripes and I owned a few of both of those cars. Have not felt the need on any of the Vettes yet, but if I did I would do the ghost like stripes. Like cyber gray on Night Race Blue sort of thing. Seem a couple of those and thought they looked awesome.
More engaging than the typical threads " I spotted a yellow C8" "I spotted an orange C8"
At least some kind of discussion happened in this thread. And yes stripes are over played and every time I see a car with stripes I think gee how original.
