no chance driver (whoever THAT was) did not hear this. That said, given how low to the ground the C8 is, and how fast they may have been going, it is not surprising that this damage could have happened. If it were under full throttle condition at high speed, is the C8 loud enough to muffle such damage? It is a nice throaty V8, but I doubt it.

I agree! We picked up our 2002 C5 brand new and when we got home (3 Miles) discovered the paint scraped off the rocker panels in an area where the damage could not be seen without looking underneath the car.

There is scraped paint and then there is broken chassis. I think all that fluid is from a hydraulic mount. This is at 32 seconds and you can see the broken aluminum support for the mount.

As a former trained LE expert, LOL, My bet as well. Years back I had a whiny Attorney from WA state who hit a rock that was about 2 foot in diameter. He rolled it under his 930 Porsche for several hundred feet until he finally stopped. The rock took out some front end bodywork, lots of wires and lines underneath and the oil pan , the oil then started on fire around the engine but luckily a trucker stopped with a fire extinguisher and saved his car.

The rock was much smaller in the end than when he initially hit it.

Just a wild guess, but I would bet he is full of in claiming he doesn’t remember doing that damage. Perhaps alcohol or drugs involved?

Why would warranty cover a driver impact? Insurance would cover that under your collision policy.

Not surprising considering the average age of corvette owners.

That's at least $5,000 worth of damage if not more... yikes.

Maybe it would help if he could remember the name of the bar.
