Hello
Hello, my name is Jamie. I work for Automotive Elegance. We are the company who does all of the XPEL PPF installations for MacMulkin. I can certainly appreciate your question and don’t blame you for wanting to go with a known commodity in regards to your home shop. While I have no control on the price at MacMulkin, I would be happy to offer you some insight into our process. With every installation we do at MacMulkin, we offer a 2 week follow up appointment which includes a complementary hand wash, and detailed inspection of the film. Of course you are 3.5 hours away, so while we may not be able to offer this inspection at the 2 week mark unless you are in town, we are happy to offer a virtual walk around at your request and the same service the next time your car is at MacMulkin for service. In regards to the decision of whether or not to drive the car home before the film is applied, given my professional experience, my fear is that your commute home will very quickly result in chips, scratches, and other potential defects on the car before you are able to deliver it to your installer. I unfortunately have seen it happen during much shorter commutes.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any other questions! I am gladly your direct contact when it comes to any and all things XPEL film and can get into greater detail with anything you need! My email is jamiep@automotiveelegancellc.com

Quote: Ahh, you may want to clarify that in your original post, as it currently reads like you just got a new 2020 at MSRP and yet you're still "looking for a win". Lot's of folks here would be irritated by that as some people are currently paying waaayyy over MSRP for a 2020, if they can even find one. Just a suggestion.
If someone is this delicate, they need to toughen the hell up.

If you don't think Mac gave you a decent quote, this is what a local shop just quoted me:

HI Alan,

Thank you for your request.

We use 3M Scotchguard Pro which has 10 years warranty and no yellowing effect.

The full PPF protection on the new Corvette is $5500+tax.

If you are interested please let us know and we’ll schedule it after you get the car.

If you have any further questions please let us know.

Very Kind Regards

Forget that extra just use some good Turtle wax on it for about $10.00.If the that car gets totaled on the way home will your insurance give you more money for the Xpel covering, i very much doubt it! Enjoy the ride for it is not for ever!

I never plan to wrap a car. I've seen to many where they yellow or when need to be removed will pull the paint. It's just not worth it for me. I have had great luck simply waxing and now using SIO2 type products. Does that mean my cars don't get rock chips? No, but wraps just never look as good in my opinion, except maybe some of the self healing types. Even those aren't impervious to scratches and then the only way to get rid of them is to remove the wrap. Just haven't bought into it.

If your getting your car wrapped with XPEL for $3800, - - - - - that's a good deal. Here in California, the going rate for
a full wrap is around $5k. If you feel confident about your installer, than go for it. Its not so much the price, as to how
picky he is wrapping your ride !

it is for about 3/4 of the car. Everything but the roof. They want 7k for entire car. May call other dealers around me to see what price they can do. I understand places need to make money but MacMulkin prices are extravagant. I get it they are a dealer but when I hear they don’t negotiate that tells me their demand must be so high they don’t need to. We’ll see a lot of options out there

Dings? You can’t ding SMC (Sheet Molded Composite). You can scratch it, but you can’t ding it like you can ding metal body panels.

The installer and how good he or she is what is most important. A crummy installation will make the best film look bad.

I checked into Automotive Elegance a little bit. They seem to have a good reputation and do other high end cars. I also went to the Xpel site and they have computer cut kits that would protect the forward / front end and lower panels from small rocks coming from the front. I am considering driving the car home to South Florida from MacMulkin which is about 1600 miles and making a road trip of it. If I do, I would prefer to have it protected from the beginning. I emailed Jamie on this thread for a price quote with MacMulkin but have not heard back from him yet. These are the Xpel Kits:

Full Hood, Fenders, Side Mirrors Kit #P0604DN-US
Lower Rocker Panels Kit #P0604DR-US
A-Pillars and Cross Bar Kit #P0604DO-US
Headlights Kit #H0604-P-U

I also plan to put the splash guards on before I leave if I drive it home.

Contact Tommy or Christina at Macmulkin. You can't go through Jamie.

Looks like their website allows us to purchase this directly... But WOW! What a markup! Has anyone tackled the job of installing this themselves? For $261 for the "Full Hood, Fenders, Side Mirrors Kit #P0604DN-US", that's a far cry from the $$$$ installation cost.

you are paying for the install. From what I have seen this is not easy to install. I’m pissed at some of the costs in seeing. 4K isn’t even getting the car completely wrapped 😡

Even if you don't know what you're doing, I think you could screw it up many times over before you reach the break even point of paying for installation.
