Default 1LT observations

So I've had my 1LT base car for a few days now, including a 700 mile drive back from the museum which got me past break in. The car only has two extra pay items: Orange paint and museum delivery; so about as base a car as you can get, feature wise. Just some random observations in no particular order:

* This is a lot of car for $60k. They really did a great job on this car.
* The FE1 suspension is bit too floaty for my taste. I would have definitely opted for the Mag ride option that they offer on the 2021. I'm not really into mods on new cars, but I may consider replacing with the Z51 suspension parts.
* The car really shines off the line; a lot of fun. Once your off the line though, I preferred the feel of the C7 Z06. And yes, I know that is not a fair comparison.
* The black 1LT interior is very nice. I was not one to complain about interiors in the past models, but I think they finally made an interior that that most people won't complain about. I have no desire for the upgraded interior.
* The DCT is undoubtedly a superior transmission. After the newness wore off a little, I still miss rowing my own gears. The DCT just makes things *too* easy
* After reading I was a little worried about the visibility out the back without the rear camera. I find it not to be a big deal.
* I read the car looks better without the wing, but didn't really have any opinion from pictures. After seeing them side by side, I definitely like the no wing look.
* The rear also looks better without the rear view camera installed.
* The paint and exterior finish is better than my C7 was.
* Orange is a great color on this car. I didn't pick the color myself and was worried I would regret it, but it is definitely in my top 2 colors after seeing others at the museum.

Edit for an addition:
* If I didn't already know, I would never have guessed these are all season tires

Suspension is perfect to me but I'm coming from a base suspension C7 and not a Z06.

The 10 speaker bose stereo sounds great to me, I am not an audiophile though. It's definitely an improvement over my 1LT C7.

The 1LT is perfect for me, the car is only used on nice weekend days and it has all I need. I think it's the best deal in the automotive world.
All this is my take too. The rear view mirror is just slightly more than interior decoration. It's like looking through a gunners slot with distortion. That said, the outside mirrors are fantastic and properly adjusted eliminate virtually all blind spots. There is nothing base or cheap about the 1LT interior, it looks and feels quite upscale. (I've owned AMG Mercedes). The stock ride is firm but not harsh and I'm not sensing any float at all. The DCT is absolutely magical in performance, I love it.

My C7 was a 1LT no options. Was $49K. I believe they went down to $45K at some dealerships. You got a nice car for $60’s. I imagine you’ll add options after awhile like I did. I wouldn’t doubt in a year or two you might be able to sell it for what you paid for it.

Thanks for the detail. I'm still trying to consider what option package, if any, I want on my now to be 2021. Appreciate the insight on the 1LT!

I just couldn't live (I probably could but choose not to) without some 2LT options but I'm glad you're happy with your purchase.

OP and several others, this was helpful... I was inclined toward 1LT/1LZ already plus Magride and PDR, and this confirmed it.

Great info, I opted for the Z51 with mag ride. I don’t like my C8 in touring mode it’s way to floaty, makes the rear of the car like a boat when going over a large wave a non connected feel. In this mode the car feels like a large wheel base sedan, just not my cup of tea. On a long road trip, it would work but for me way to much of a compromise. I prefer a stiffer more sports car ride, have owned many European cars with a 15 Z06 being my last corvette. Z51 upgrade after the purchase is way to expensive, you should look at aftermarket springs and shocks, that would solve the problem. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Thank you for sharing. I am waiting for my 1lt status 3000 since Feb. 18th. Thank you for your thoughts especially on the visibility issues I have read about. I have been concerned about the visibility issues but maybe, based on yours and a few others comments, I can relax a bit on that. My 1lt will be in LBR will have a transparent roof with a high wing. I am thinking I made a mistake by not upgrading to the performance exhaust but we will see. Thanks again for your comments.

Questions for 1LT owners: 1) I see on the pricing guide that 1LT does not come with Sirius. Does that mean you cannot access Sirius, even if you have a subscription? Or just that you don't get the free year's subscription? And 2) If anyone has option IOT (Premium Infotainment), does that include the 14 speaker system? Thank you

It has XM/Sirius, just listened to it yesterday. What they do is give you a short term on it, 3 months instead of a year for 2LT and 3LT.

One observation that I never saw coming is this. I'm of average size, 5'10" and 205, 34" waist, so I'm not a rail, but not Jabba the Hut either. When the seat is comfortable for me, it's probably about half way up the seat travel as would be expected. The bolster on the seat is actually pretty significant and so especially when getting in, it is easy to kind of hit the bolster with your butt. This won't tolerate that very long before it wears on it. The answer is to move the seat back before you get out and when you get back in the car move it forward to comfortable again. I never wish I had memory seats before, EVER, never needed or wanted them. This car I really wish the seat could go back to where I want it every time. Worse things have happened to me, but it is the only thing in 2LT I wish I had.

Do you plan on upgrading to a C8 Z06 because of that lack of power? This is why i couldn't even think about a base car. as quick to 60 as it is. I launch my corvettes maybe 1x every few times I drive it even less maybe. But I get into the throttle on the move everytime as much as possible.

Also, now that mag ride is a stand alone option if you had to wait 6 7 months or even until next summer would you have waited?

Congrats with the purchase. The C8 (especially the interior) is very nice and fitting next gen after the C7 which was leaps and bounds better than a C6 gen car. I had multiple. Hoping the C8Z doesn't disappoint.

I’m happy with my 1LT, and really don’t need anything more. As it sits, the car is an amazing value. With that said, I’m probably going to put a deposit on a 2021 in Silver Flare. Still will go 1LT, but it will have Mag Ride.

Maybe. This is a very special base car, but still just a base car. That's why I kept mine cheap.

No. If I was going to wait, then in my mind I would just have waited until the discounts start rolling in. This is the first car I've ever had as soon as it was available.
