Default Extended Mud Flaps

I just ordered the factory mud flap kit, front and rear, just wondering if anyone else has installed yet and has pics. Always wonder about spending $125 for $15 worth of plastic parts, but what ya gonna do?

I put them on my C8 and had them on my last 4 Corvettes. They are splash guards because I would never drive in the mud! They only protrude about 3/4" but that is enough to prevent what the tires kick up from marring the rear quarters and along the side skirt area. They work and the are worth it.

Anything different or unique about installing the splash guards? Can they be installed with the tires on the car?

Mud Flaps? LOL! GM refers to them as “Splash Guards”.

I have the carbon flash ones on mine. Simple installation. Took about 15 minutes total. Make sure you tuck in the tabs before pushing in the clips.

Are these GM or aftermarket? GM looked like satin plastic.

I got them at ACScomposite but I think they are GM. They have two options, painted and unpainted but the carbon flash painted cost $200 more.

Easy to install and you do not have to remove wheels. Bought for about $130 shipped and had my paint guy sand them smooth and paint them Carbon Flash for $80.

I’d still do those rockers and lower doors. They get hit quite a bit.

Order them with the car as a dealer installed option, $250. Time is money!

By now you know, it is an easy install. How sure am I? I got them done in 15 minutes without one expletive deleted. This from a guy who still has unidentified carburetor parts leftover from an ill fated rebuild of the lawn mower's. In high school!

My wife always wary was happily relieved.

Simply get a black car to begin with and they're never noticed.

Do you have any shots of your car zoomed out? They look pretty inconspicuous. My plan is the same as yours get the $120 ones and have my buddy paint them at his shop.

Hello All,

$120.00 for a set of splash guards sounds OK to me, but I am seeing sets of 4 at lower costs on EBay. The EBay extended splash guards for the C8 are listed as being mad of ABS plastic. You receive all 4 extended splash guards for $67.99, free shipping from Dayton, New Jersey.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/16547270459...IaAoKkEALw_wcB

Hard to know what the quality is. Either way, the price seems much more reasonable than $120.00. I guess these splash guards will fit a 2023.

Your thoughts please!!!!

After the splash guard installation, what is the best way to protect the side skirts?

Just Wunderin..

All these mud guards are produced by a dozen or more Chinese factories. There is no branding to establish quality deltas. The only difference is how many middle men before you. What they add to the final price. GM being the greediest of the bunch.

Has anyone installed those eBay guards on a 2023 car? Their website says they will not fit the 2023 model, though I dont know why they would not as I thought the C8's had exactly the same form factor. Just wondering - it's hard to go wrong with $67.99............

Thanks.

Funny you mention $15 worth of plastic parts since the part that you remove to install the splash guards actually costs $15. It is beyond me why a splash guard that is identical to the part that is there with the exception of an additional 3/4" outer edge on one side should cost 5 times as much. They are the same size, same material, same finish but one costs 5 times as much. Clearly a Chevy rip off.

FWIW, my 1st two vettes (a 1988 and 1993) look great when I sold them except for marks on the rear quarter and rockers. Marked by pebbles thrown by the tiers.

On my 2008 C6 bought large splash guards that were contoured and painted car color. Worked OK but big.

Installed GM splash guards on my 2014 Z51. Rears worked fine. Fronts did little. GM knew where the issue was on the rockers and put "protective plastic" from the door center up the front of the rear wheel well. Plastic was marked with a few weeks so installed aftermarket full length side skirts. All marking stopped and was able to remove the marked GM plastic.

For my 2017 grand Sport ordered the Stage 2 Option mostly for the full-length side skirts. Side skirts stopped all marking. Still ordered the GM splash guards as knew the rears worked and matched the front for what little extra, they did. Sold the car and rockers were perfect.

For my C8 ordered their 5VM for the side skirts but it was constrained. Ordered the splash guards and rockers were marked within a few weeks. Rear was fine. Order C7 Carbon aftermarket side skirts a copy of 5VM. It covered the marked rockers and after 2 years they and rockers look new.

Here are some pics. Depends on where you live but in my rural area would install ide Skirts and splash guards for rear and as I did in the front to match!

PIC, My C6 with aftermarket contoured splash guards that matched car color. Worked

My 2014 C7 Z51 with full length aftermarket side skirts. Worked fine.

My 2017 Grand Sport with Stage 2 Aero Option bought for the carbon fiber (painted carbon flash) full length side skirts. Rockers looked new when I sold it.

Tracked showed where Track Rubber hit his Rockers. Front Splash Guards will not stop!

My C8 with aftermarket copies of 5VM side skirts. After 27 months the rockers look new, no marks.

I did the RPI color-matched when the factory-supplied were put on constraint and really happy that I did. They are a little larger than the GM offering and I think they blend with the paint quite well.
