How many cars, in different stages, are on the assembly line at any given time?

I was wondering about that. I check your spreadsheet every day. Is the true number 280 and you use 170 to be conservative. Following your 170 approach, my car should enter the ride today for a completion date Monday!!

Unless I am having a senior moment (Insert Jake Pic here), I have been using 170 since the first SS. I do not recall, but some senior member provided/corrected me or NCM, or .... It has worked and agreed with PL #s so far. Depending on the daily PL #s, 170 works out to 1-3 days. If it was 280, everyone would be 1 day so that on face value would appear to be inaccurate.

However, the only real numbers that count are the Numbers for off the PL am and pm. Not when they were put on the PL. That would almost be like when did I go Code XXXX. The only ones that really matter are 3800, 5000, and 6000.

During Kai Spande's seminar at the NCM Virtual Bash this year, he said that there are approximately 225 cars on the GA (General Assembly) at any given time.

In addition, the build process for each car includes 20 hours in the paint shop, 13 hours in the body shop, and 13 hours in GA. Keep in mind that while there are 225 cars on the GA at any given time, all of those cars are not being worked on during the process as there are many buffer zones where cars are stored and held as they move through the GA. This keeps assembly moving even when one area of the GA has to be shut down for some reason.

My car set wrapped in plastic for two months on the assembly line with nine cars behind it and about one hundred and fifty in front of it.
