And what about the 40 odd CTF's that are raced every day at Spring Mountain? They all have to be high mileage and 'rode hard & put up wet' and no problems with them? I wonder.

Or rolling out the 8 speed automatic to their most important vehicles and having major shudder issues. I’m sure that was rigorously tested too, right? Result GM denying there’s a major problem and a class action lawsuit.

Or thoroughly testing wheels on the C7 Z06 and GS they don’t bend or crack easy. Result thousands of defective wheels and GM says its user error and they won’t cover it.. Yeah must be a pretty big pothole to bend or crack three wheels on a car that has 1000 miles or less..

Let’s hope it doesn’t take a class action lawsuit this time..
Not holding my breath .............

Having been to Spring Mtn twice, their maintenance is above and beyond. However, those are specially prepped cars. No way are they the average street C8.

The only thing Spring Mountain does to their C8s is track prep them per the owner's manual track prep specifications.

What maintenance steps do they perform that would prevent a hood from flying open? Just curious what these mystery steps are that are so much more than any owners are taking or performing.

Betting the fuse is pulled or, SM has taken other measures to prevent such an occurrence. What ever they've done, it would be of great help to the community to know ............ In the meantime, I did find this for the front of your car ..................

None that I know of. They hadn't pulled any fuses when I was there June 20-21.

In the short term one could always go and buy a couple of cement blocks and attach the tether to them!

Tomorrow I will be getting my car after spending a month in the shop.
A couple of weeks ago the National Traffic Safety people told me to expect a call from GM,so far NADA.

Default Avoidable

None of this would have happened if the car had been designed correctly.
Front engine. Manual transmission. 😃
