Default Seat selection

Can anyone please tell me the difference between the GT1 and the GT2 seats? Is there a comfort or performance difference or is it just cosmetic?

GT2 has adjustable lumbar and side bolsters. The GT1 is what it is. I have GT1 and am 205 5'10" and 33" waist and fit, but snug. Depending on your size you may need the adjustability.

Not quite

In 2LT trim the GT1 seat has all the features of a GT2. All the adjustments plus heat and vent.

The only difference seemed to be in marketing speak rather than reality. Even in the GM seat video, all the guy could say about the GT2 was appearance.

I ended up with a 2LT car with the GT1 seats and they are fine.

If you are doing a 1LT car then it's another discussion, as to whether all the adjustments, heat and vent are what you want.

Bikerjulio is correct. You can get fully loaded GT1 seats with the 2LT trim and save $1,500. I’m choosing the GT1 seats because the shaded perforations in the GT2 seats make the Sky Cool Gray leather look dirty.

The seat cooling on the GT2 seats is not very good. The perforations exist only in the middle thigh area. No perforations or cooling in the buttock or thing/knee area. Even on max its pretty weak compared to other vehicles. I don't know if the heated/cooled GT1 seats on 2LT trim are any better.
The GT2s are also a bit firm in the tail bone area. If you have a round trunk it probably wont matter.

And I believe you have to get GT2 seats to get the two tone seat colors.

GT2 has a much better look and more carbon fiber which I am a fan of. That was worth the 1,500 for me.

The only reason I'm considering the GT2 seats is that I like the microsuede seating surfaces. But that means paying $1500 for the GT2 seats, $600 for the sueded steering wheel. $2100 is a lot to pay for suede. And because of the perf pattern on the GT2 I'd also want the two-tone seats, which make the total an extra $2500. Hard to justify.

Thanks JerryU, that clears it up a bit. I'm rethinking the seats now, since I'm getting an 2LT, seems to me the only real difference is in the amount of padding between the GT1 and Gt2 seats, (oh, and a bunch of $$$)

Despite the blurbs on the picture above, I don't believe there is much, if any, difference to the shape or comfort. GM's selling points with the GT2 are better appearance and colour selection.

Since I wanted all-black the GT1 was fine for me. I admit the GT2 look better, but at the time I was sticking to a budget, and it was down to wheels or seats. I chose wheels.

I have GT1 Seats and Everything is fully adjustable INCLUDING LUMBAR, SIDE BOLSTERS,...Most comfortable form fitting adjustable Seats I have ever Had! I also have 2LT interior. I considered other seats, but glad I didn't. I made the Perfect choice for me.

C8J, I saw a photo on Google of GT1 seats with perforations, unlike the showroom display seats. Am I correct to assume this is the 2LT version of the GT1 seat?

There was a discussion about the double density foam and benefits from a fellow who sat in both the GT1 and GT2. The Concerage also mentioned "larger folks are better with...but I don't rember which! I'm getting a 3LT so didn't save.

Note in post #9 pic I highlighted the material for an interesting reason. I had a 3LT 2014 C7 and a 2LT Grand Sport. Frankly I could not tell the difference between the real animal hide Napa Leather "seat inserts" and the man made "bonded leather" GM calls Mulan. Made similar to vinyl in wide rolls it can have from 15 to 40% finely ground leather scrapes as a filler. There was a discussion some years ago on the forum that said the seat bolsters were NOT real leather even on the "best seats." A GM engineer (not Corvette) said it tests "real animal hide leather" was not the best for bolsters.

This is the 1st time I have seen GM say even the GT2 bolsters are made from their Mulan faux leather. Like Chryslers old Corinthian "leather" it's man made! Note they do not say what the bolsters in the GT1 seats are made from. Could be vinyl. Frankly who cares!

Looks to me like the difference is the higher density cushion, the carbon fiber, Mulan leather vs. Mulan leather bolsters and Napa leather insert and the head rest on the GT2 has the cross flags in it and I don’t think the GT1 does. Does this sound correct?

Can anybody confirm if side bolsters on the GT1 are vinyl or Mulan Leather? This may make a big difference to some. Don’t forget one of the many reasons this is such a superior car is because of the upgraded interior, should you choose the correct options!

When you say “Bumpy” does that mean it has a grain pattern?

I love my GT1 seat.
i have an 2LT which means I can make the bolsters tighter if I want.
The Disney leather is just fine and feels great.
The perforations looks better than the "dirty" GT2 seats and they're still ventilated.
I am 5'7" and 175lbs.

GT2 seats have pass thru for shoulder belts if you plan to track your can and use 5 or 6-point harness.

Does anyone know of someone making a harness bar for the C8 yet?
