I am planning on having MacMulkin do my C8 PPF before delivery in a few months. I would love to hear from MacMulkin people who picked up their C8 and had them do the PPF work. How happy are you with the job? Comments? Criticisms? It would also be helpful to know how much you got covered.

apparently auto elegance does the work on site. They apparently are top notch w not one bad review I can find. But MacMulkin is def charging a premium. I’m doing their option 4 which covers everything pretty much besides roof. It’s 4K. I called a shop near me and guy quoted 3800 for same. May be able to talk him down but at that point prob just easier getting it at MacMulkin

4k for whole car minus roof? That’s a great deal. I’m in the Bay Area and the cheapest full car PPF I can find is 6500$.
Xpel-2021 Corvette
Full Hood, Fender, Mirror Kit #P0604DN-US $858.95
Rocker Panel Kit #P0604DR-US $575.95
A-Pillar and Roof Kit P0604DO-US $131.95
Headlamp Kit #H0604I-P-U $87.95 Total (4 Kits) $1,654.80 plus installation
I went to the Xpel site and got the pricing and information on these four kits and sent them to Christina and Auto Elegance to get a price but have have not heard anything back from them yet. These would cover everything facing forward including the rocker panels and side air scoops.

I hope that price includes paint correction to the areas PPF is being applied to before applying. Obviously you will not be able to do it afterwards and applying ceramic coating will just highlight the flaws in the paint.

That is a great question. I am guessing they do not. Though, the convenience and expertise outweigh that in my mind.
I would be concerned if it’s applied at the dealer because it not really set up as a clean room. I would think a detail shop has a cleaner environment and has less dust and debris floating around than a dealership full of cars in for maintenance and repairs.

I can't speak to the C8 but on the C7 it did not. Price was for PPF only. I asked about getting a paint correction done and was told not possible at the dealer. I believe the PPF is installed up on the 3rd floor of the showroom, i.e. not someplace suitable to all the prep that would go into a paint correction.
Also, one of the reasons this is so cheap is that for most of the pattern they use the cut files (again on the C7). This means aside from the hood there isn't a lot of wrapping so seams are visible and will pick up dirt and show on light colored cars as it ages. On my C7 I would describe the job as good and competent not great, but given the price this was somewhat expected.
I would not be surprised to see $6k or more if you took the car to Automotive Elegance's shop and had them paint correct and do a similar PPF job wrapping around edges as much as was possible.
Locally there is another installer AutoNuvo that also appears to be good although I've not had any personal experience with them.
Where did you get this? I can't seem to find it and I can't read the prices.
Christina from MacMulkin sent me this same list of Xpel packages that is offered from Auto Elegance who is the Xpel installer for their cars. My problem with their packages is that it does not cover the areas that I want. Supposedly Auto Elegance does the installation on the third floor of MacMulkin’s facility. On the Xpel site they have four kits that I would like to install on my car when it arrives next year. If Auto Elegance does not want to use the kits from Xpel that I want, then I will use Trakwrap on the car to get it home and have a local installer do the PPF after we get home.
Yup. The Xpel that is cut from a computer will show the seams and edges. For a cleaner looking job get it custom done. There’s other films besides Xpel as well.

that's not true. The computer can be set to cut the pieces larger and a place like Automotive Elegance will wrap the edges wherever it can be done.. without dismantling the car.
I had my Audi s4 wrapped. Never once did someone ask if it got paint corrector. I’m sure many of you have a wealth of knowledge. But I do not find the need to blow a heap of money on something I’ll probably sell in 5 years. I’m only getting the xpel to prevent rock chips and minor scratches from ppl in parking lots.
The C8 front bumper will have many seams even if the edges are wrapped. I talked to the local installer that did my C7 and he said he had done 2 C8's and that the number of pieces for the front bumper was insane. If I'm remembering correctly I think he said there were 14 pieces in the pattern. That means there will be plenty of seams where the pattern pieces match up (wrapping only takes care of the outer edges). I don't know if a custom wrap can reduce that number or not. I would talk to the installer and see if the car can be shipped to their facility for the work where they can do what is needed. The Esoteric YouTube channel showed them correcting a new Corvette (never driven, I can't remember if it was a C7 or C8) that needed a huge amount of correction. They also say that orange peel should not be corrected unless it is a show car as too much clear coat needs to be removed. Good luck with your decision. The PPF allows me to really enjoy my car.

This is how I would describe my experience as well. They do use the 3rd floor as a work area, and the pieces are all pre-cut. They do a good job of inspecting the car and ensuring that it's ready for the film, but not full paint correction. I've had no problems with mine (2 years old) on my C7 GS.

is the film very noticeable through auto elegance??? If I need to go right up to car 1 inch away to even begin to see it I am not worried

Among the many thousands of other options is to get a museum delivery, and there is a company there that is well spoken of (auto armor IIRC) by those who've used them. I read somewhere that they are hopeful to get some sort of agreement for the 2021's where they would be able to complete the work before you arrived for delivery (which takes about a week for some) That would be a very convenient thing for those of us who have long drives home from the museum.

I had my 2016 covered with SunTek Ultra and it looked amazing.
Edges were wrapped with NO seams. Car was then ceramic coated - all before
I bought it from previous owner, so I don't know what it cost.
I recently sold the car and placed order for a 2021.
