Default New C8 - Two Major Software Issues

Longtime lurker here, checking in now that I have finally got my C8. Since there are so many folks on this forum with considerable knowledge about everything Corvette/GM, I was hoping to post a couple issue I have noticed over the past week (picked the car up last Wednesday at Bowling Green).

1. A couple days ago I parked the car in my driveway and powered down for about 10 minutes. During the time that the car was off, the drivers-side door was left open. Upon coming back outside, getting back in the car, and heading out I noticed there was zero sound coming from the speakers/dash. And when I say no sound, I don't just mean music. There was no sound from Onstar (Not that I use it), no sound from turn signals, etc. Essentially it was just exhaust and nothing more. This seems fairly serious to me for safety reasons, and almost certainly software related. The resolution to this was arriving at my destination and leaving the car off for about 10 minutes.

2. The second issue happened to my wife while she was driving (I am going to again assume this is software related). She describes it as follows:
When I was driving yesterday the service parking brake warning came on with the service light and brake light. The brake light wasn't on prior to this warning. This happened while in mid drive, not parked, nor was I messing around with the parking brake in mid drive. I got home, parked the car, waited over night, and then turned the car back on the next morning. No warning, no lights, nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to approach a resolution to this? My assumption is the dealer cannot do much other than run diagnostics. My hope was that I could report the issue somehow to GM, but my gut says folks are going to tell me to "go to the dealer".

For what it's worth the car, otherwise, has been an absolute masterpiece.

Regarding your no sound issue... are the Automatic Software updates turned on in the cars settings? If they are then car could have been in the middle of updating the software and you sowed up in the middle of this process. Most everything will look dead during the update process which usually takes less then 5 min.

I have seen the "Service Parking Brake" light on our Evoque when I disconnected the Parking Brake switch from the dash. Its possible a connector is loose of it had poor contact at the time of the error.

Check your battery voltage, after it sits overnight. Should be at least 12.8 v or more. Might want to use a battery maintainer or charger. I firmly believe that this is the cause of a lot of problems in these cars.
just saying,,,,,,,

I had issue 1 happen two or three times on my 2014 Cadillac CTS. Problem resolved itself after it was parked for several hours and restarted. Still have the car and it hasn't happened again in the past two or three years. I assume it was a software glitch that took care of itself. And it only occurred when driving the car in the middle of a very hot day...

Most modern cars need to be locked to fully shutdown electronics and thus battery drain.

It would have been useful to know how long your car had been in storage/transit before you got it because I'm agreeing with Racer that a lot of early electronic problems are caused by battery problems, and a long storage period will contribute to that. I had one myself, and my total storage/transit time was only 5 weeks.

If problems persist, I'd suggest a "reset" meaning pull the negative lead off the battery for 10 minutes and then reconnect. And at the same time check voltage.

I echo what others have said. My wife's 19 gmc has the new OTA update radio/electronics and we had some weird glitches with the radio/infotainment system but hasn't happened in almost a year now. Did it 3 or 4x put of nowhere when only a few months old over maybe a month. There have been auto updates so maybe they were fixed with that.

The parking brake thing happened to others but like you they went away.. check the C8 problem sticky (which should be broken down by sub system as it is all lumped in together paint fitment mechanical trans electrical it is so dumb.

I think you just drive it because without it occurring when. You being it in? You're wasting your time.

Try to video with your phone if it happens again. The last time I saw that glitch I did that and it must've scared the gremlin gods away because it never happened again.

On C7’s small things would happen. The owners would disconnect the battery for a short time. After reconnecting the battery everything was ok.
