Default Rail Transportation

My C8 was built 8-27. Went 4300 status on 9-3 and was shipped via Jack Cooper to Toledo. I have the ability to track and the car has been sitting at a rail yard near Toledo for the last 5 days. Does anyone know how long these vehicles generally sit waiting for rail transport? My delivery is to Utah and wondering if they drop off in a regional hub in Denver before final truck transport? It's crazy that I have been patiently waiting for one year and dealing it with quite well. But now that I know the car is built, watching it sit in a rail yard with no progress is even more frustrating.

Rail transportation is unpredictable. 3-6 weeks to western US is common.

The Auto rack with your car on it will go to Denver. They make up the trains in the yard according to priority. Auto racks are not high priority. There is no way of knowing when your car will leave that yard. I am a retired Engineer from Union Pacific and not much hurrying takes place in those yards when they are building trains.

Mind sharing how you are able to track the car? Mine shipped on Thursday but it’s coming to California.

I thought that feature was disabled by GM, because car batteries were going dead.

I would count on 4-6 weeks by rail, but maybe a little less since it's already in Toledo. The train goes straight to the rail yard in Salt Lake before getting on a truck. Which dealership are you buying from?

I bought the C8 from Criswell Chevrolet in Maryland - Mike Furman. Courtesy delivery to Hansen Motors in Brigham City. I live in Ogden.

Good to know there's a dealer in Utah willing to do Courtsey Deliveries. Hope you enjoy it,, shouldn't be long now.

So, my car was shipped by rail and left Fairfax Ks on 9/9 headed to Mira Loma Ca. I wonder if any one has any experience with the time it takes to travel from Kansas to Ca via rail? I think I might be seeing my car by next week. It will still need to be transported to Central Ca though.

My dealer activated OnStar and I do not see any options in https://my.chevrolet.com/ to be able to track it. I see a 'Get Connected' option to link the car, but it requires you to push the blue button in the car... Does anyone know of a way to track the car as it ships?

Update - Just called Onstar and they said to log off the mychevy app on my phone and log back in and then some new features showed up including location services. My car is in Kansas...halfway here.

My C8 was built on July 28 and I received it in Thousand Oaks, CA days 21 later, but had to wait 3 days until they could install new software for frunk issue.

I also bought my car from Mike. Great guy, BTW! He pointedly told me that it would be 1-3 weeks to get the car. It's been 1 week already! I live in Montana but the car is being courtesy delivered to Idaho Falls. I just want to beat the snow!!

My car shipped on 9/18/20 and has been in KS for a few days. It moved from the big parking lot west of the tracks yesterday and appears to be loaded back on the train today. Hoping for some movement the next few days...

This screen is available if your dealer activates OnStar on the mychevy phone app:
