when I go from Park to Drive I hear a clanging noise or park to reverse. There is no noise when I go from drive to reverse or reverse to drive. Is this normal or do I have a problem
Not normal, in fact when I go from park to reverse or reverse to drive or back to park, I'm never sure anything just occurred. I put it in reverse and there is zero movement, sound, or anything, let my foot off the brake and it rolls backwards. Put it in drive and the exact same, no sounds, clunk, movement, anything, take my foot off the brake and it rolls forward. Have never owned any car that had a transmission this seamless and smooth.

Is the car on an incline? If so, make sure you have the foot brake on when you apply the 'e' brake. The "P" on the center console is to put the transmission in "Park" which should be done with your foot an the brake, just like a traditional planetary automatic. The other "P" lever engages/disengages the parking brake, which actuates the smaller brake calipers in the rear. Must also be engaged with the foot bake on especially on an incline. The sound is the parking brake releasing.

I always set the parking brake with all my cars while in neutral and let the brake hold the cars weight before I put it into park. Done that forever and you bring up a good point.
