Another Frunk Recall!

2020 Chevy Corvette subject to another frunk recall
Another 7,071 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray vehicles are the subject of a new recall surrounding the mid-engine sports car's front hood, otherwise known as the frunk. In documents published with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration last week, General Motors said the few thousand 2020 Corvettes with outdated software will allow owners to drive the car with the frunk partially open.GM alluded to this issue in a previous recall surrounding the ability for the frunk to trap a person inside. However, the issue only extended to 5,141 cars. The additional 7,071 Corvettes recalled will need a specific software fix to ensure drivers can't operate the car at high speeds with the frunk partially open. If it does pop open at high speeds, the frunk can obstruct the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash.
Right now, if owners ignore visual and audible alerts that the frunk is not totally closed, the component is at risk of flying up while driving. I'm not sure why you'd ignore those warnings, but it appears some owners have. GM said it's not aware of any crashes, but a handful of complaints surrounding the recall.
With the updated software, owners will be restricted to driving at speeds up to 26 mph. Currently, the software will let drivers go 82 mph with the frunk not closed all the way. Just like the previous recall, GM will offer the solution via an over-the-air update. Otherwise owners will need to bring their 2020 Corvette to a dealer for the new software. The automaker expects the recall to begin Oct. 3 with mailed notices going out shortly thereafter.

Well, that is an interesting statement.
Anyone have a List of Owners who IGNORED THE WARNINGS before the Frunk flew open?

A warning for critical items should leave no doubt as to the fact that there is a problem that needs your immediate attention without delay.
Bells & Whistles and "twenty-seven 8 times 10 colored glossy pictures with the circles and Arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one" is not enough for some.

1ST PICTURE ANGLE SHOT OF C8 FROM END. OBSERVE THE LENGTH OF THE FRUNCK' BONNET AS THE ENGLISH WOULD SAY.
NOW LOADING A BAG IN FRUNK
MAYBE GIVEING YOU AN IDEA OF TRYING TO LEANOVER AND REMOVE A SMALL ITEM FROM BOTTOM OF FRUNK
.
NOW LETS GO BACK TO PICTURE NUMBER 3, BUT THIS TIME LETS LOOK AT WHAT IT WOUL TAKE DESIGN/ENGINEERING WISE TO TRY AND REDESIGN THE C8 SO WHEN YOU OPEN THE LID WITH IT HINGED IN FRONT INSTEAD OF THE REAR.
WHERE WOULD YOU HAVE TO PLACE THE HING ARMS ON THE LID TO SUPPORT IT'S WEIGHT. THEN WHERE WOULD THE OTHER HALF OF THE HING HAVE TO BE ATTACHED TO THE BODY TO ALLOW FOR IT TO SUPPORTED LID WHEN OPEN?
NOW WHERE DOES THE NOSE OF THE LID GO WHEN YOU OPEN THE LID. I BELIEVE IT WOULD NEED TO GO DOWN INTO THE BODY TO DO THAT. IS THERE SPACE AND ROOM BELOW TO ALLOW THE NOSE TO BE ABLED TO DO THAT?
.
WELL YOU COULD SAY WHY NOT DOUBLE HINGE THE LID SO IT MOVES UP OUT OF IT'S OPENING WHEN RAISED.
IF YOU DO THAT, THEN THAT MEANS YOU WILL HAVE TO TRY AND LOAD & UNLOAD THE FRUNK REACHING IN AT LEAST AT THE WIDE POINT OF THE C8'S WHEELWELL.
NOW WITH EITHER HINGEING, WOULD THE FRUNK BE USEABLE FOR EVEN AND AVERAGE SIZE PERSON. MUCHLESS ONE OF US WITH A PROTUDING WAISTLINE!
When you move the hinges to the Front, now the hinges have to support more weigh than with hinges at the the rear also. that effects the placement of the hinges, Fore & Aft.
It is what it is for a reason, from my life experiences over the years. I only have a High School Diploma, as maybe you can tell by my writing. It's just what I think are the problems with trying to move hinges as you an others have suggested.
Now you tell me why I'm wrong, based on your life experiences as how to do it!

This is beyond Dead Horse...it's Horse Skeleton territory.
BUT for those who are still concerned:- They may inadvertently open the Frunk like a cell phone pocket call with something else in your pocket pressing the key
- Or they won't see the word warnings on the dash
- Or don't understand if you drive with the Frunk unlatched at the max 26 mph allowed - the hood will fly up
This FOB Cover May Help:
Just got this ~$12 FOB cover from Amazon that comes close in color to my LBR! It's for a 2020 CT5 Caddy but fits the C8 FPB perfectly. It has a plastic cover over the keys to help avoid something in your pocket with the FOB from inadvertently opening the FOB . Have to press harder to open the Frunk.
In addition, it solves one of the reason I wanted a cover so it is differentiated in the draw with my wallet and FOBs, from the wife's BMW SUV FOB which is black and similar shape and the other C8 FOB. Won't make a mistake and pick the wrong one!

If everyone had listened and or read all the info on the C8 during its development, the hinges are on the back because GM said it would be easier to load and unload the frunk, that’s it.
On the other hand, it would be more difficult to put a kid in there if the hinges were on the front.
