Finally
Backstory, I’ve been a member since 2001, was active on the C3 and C6 forums, in the past. I was one of the first members to install a Borg Warner T56 transmission behind a BBC in my C3 and put it in the Tech section years ago, but it’s probably no longer listed.
I purchased a C6 Convertible in 2007, supercharged it, headers, methanol injection. Had a mild tune of 525 rwhp. It was fun.
After retiring in 2016 and selling the C6, (my last Corvette, I told my wife) in 2017, I purchased a 1973 MGB with a tired Buick V6 in it. This was supposed to be my retirement project and take me several years to complete. I completed it in 2018 and started wondering what I was going to do next, then rumors of a rear engine Corvette started. I said uh-oh. (To myself)
When we saw the unveiling last year, we had to get one, so here I am, back after years of absence. We love the car, purposely bought a non-Z51, as I’m done with hot rodding, not a fan of the rear spoilers and want to just cruise the US, which we plan to do. Also, the aftermarket industry will provide me with a small, rear lip spoiler, eventually, that will complement the car nicely.
You gotta get one of these new ones. Thank you Chevrolet. And I thought the only rear engine Chevy I would ever own was the 1962 Corvair.

My other mods will be window tint (thinking 3M Crystalline), front and side paint protection vinyl, splash guards (I forgot to order on the car) and front radiator protector screen.
i found the matching, honeycomb style screen Chevy used on the top and rear engine vents. It comes from Custom Cargrills and I got a 16”x48” black powder coated piece on Amazon.
Because I love good sound systems for cruising, I really wanted someone to review the one in the C8, but I guess younger owners of the C8 love the engine/exhaust sound, more than the entertainment sound. I can honestly say this Bose is their best yet, certainly loud enough and has very decent quality sound, in case any others on here wonder. My wife and I need good sounds to cruise in a car, so it is important to know.
We had planned to “See the USA in our Chevrolet” this past summer, but obviously, both the car delay and plague, altered those plans. We were also going to head west, back to NAPA/Sonoma, but now, I think we’ll head east, when the weather allows this coming spring. This will be the first Vette we actually plan to drive a bunch.
Now, I have to say, I loved that Corvair. I put in a decent (for the time) sound system, with a 15” woofer from a juke box, 8 track player and drove it 30 miles each way to college, in 1971. Truly a good little car. Ralph Nader and politics killed it.
