I think I've encountered this before but it was a specific scenario. If you don't touch anything and start the car, does it go to position 1?. Did you by chance switch to the other key fob?

it doesn’t go to the correct position not matter what I do or don’t do. The other key fob is in a drawer in the house, haven’t touched it.

There have been similar posts for this very circumstance. The issue seems to be where you set the seat's exit position. If you move the seat all the way back and I mean all the way back (to max rear travel) and set it there, you have the problem. Solution is to move the seat all the way back and then slightly forward from this bump stop. Not much just a nudge forward of max back. Then set this as the exit point. The seat sensor doesn't index in the max aft position for some reason?

Similar problem with the C7. Papillion suggestion should fix your problem

I had two C7s (2014 and 2018), where it sporadically didn't work, about 1 out of 5 times. I tried all the "tricks" like making sure it wasn't against the backstop switch, etc, and both cars continued to exhibit the same behavior throughout my ownership.
My armchair theory is that like a PC, occasionally the Body Control Module software sometimes glitches. Sometimes, it would start moving, but not make it all the way back to desired position.
There is a Rick Conti channel video that covers setting the exit position on a C7. It is about all memory settings, but the seat exit issue is the first one. So you'll see the solution in the first minute or so. Same process with the C8,
