So ... I decided to try and do an engine cover modification myself. I used the C8 Corvette 2020 Engine Decal Graphics Kit from Corvettemods.com. The heat resistant decals were applied per the directions they came with the kit but I'm not sure they will stay intact without a heat resistant clear satin spray paint covering. Has anyone used or done something like this? Here is my engine cover with the decals
Looks very nice. I think your concerns may be correct but if you spray you may have to figure out a way so there's no overspray. Unless that's ok to do. The other thing is you'll need to get something that's also made to withstand heat, which isn't unusual to find but it'll also have to be compatible with the tape you put on. It'd be nice if there was some shop that did this for other cars and you could ask them some questions such as what type of spray to use. Good luck.
