Newbie here and I reviewed the many posts on wheels--hope this isn't redundant--but haven't come across this exact issue.
Like many others, I kinda feel like the wheel options are...well, lets say, not one of my favorite aspects of this amazing car.
I ordered a ceramic matrix gray--don't think the base wheels look great with it. My instinct WAS to go with the carbon flash to give a contrast with the lighter exterior. But now I think that looks a little flat. Its OK, but I actually think the idea of just getting the J6F red calipers WITH the base wheels might be a better look. Is this a realistic solution? All of the C8s I've seen with the colored calipers have upgraded wheels. Would this look wrong? Has anyone seen the red calipers/base wheel combo--I haven't. Your thoughts??
The alternative to me would be spectra gray tridents. I just don't like brighter tridents with a light color exterior at all...any thoughts?? Thanks in advance!
Get the base/standard wheels with the red calipers and after you take delivery of your C8, install a set of after market wheels. Lots of choices that would look great and many think better than the OEM wheel options currently offered.
Thanks jovette, I agree there ARE better alternatives elsewhere.. But if I do what you suggest, why waste the extra 600 bucks on the calipers?? Do you think the base wheels plus the red calipers is a legit way to go? I didn't mention I'm doing the red seats which I think goes pretty well on the CMG with red calipers.
Here is a Blade Silver, with ar/b two tone seats and bright red calibers. My 2021 will be the same but a Z51 with black mirrors and spoiler. Coughlin Chevrolet.
Dahogan, awesome!! Thanks for sharing. The base wheels work PERFECTLY with your Blade Silver. And the red calipers add a ton for this. It almost seems like a custom look for the blade silver. I'm thinking this may be the way to go even for my Ceramic Matrix Gray being a lighter color. Surely not as perfect as YOURS--but I'm thinking better than the carbon flash version of the base wheel. Thanks again..great choice!!
My original build had edge red calibers, but when I saw this blade silver I noticed the bright red calibers were very close to the red on the ar/b two tone GT2 seats. Rick Conti was walking by and agreed so now I am going with bright red.
Hey thanks..great pix & beautiful car. I really appreciated the new owner's thinking on this and I agree. Rick is fantastic, too. FYI-ChevyDude, Mike Davenport, was very helpful too. Guys like Rick and Mike really provide a great service for us. And I really appreciate your help!
Go with bright red calipers, standard wheel. Order BLACK Trident 5 spoke OEM wheels from one of the Big GM Wholesale Warehouses on line and swap them out when your car arrives.
Caliper color depends in part on the aftermarket wheels you like. If you are thinking about a black or polished wheel, go with the red calipers. If you might try a wheel with some color in it (e.g., bronze, blue, red, etc) then stay with the black calipers. If you aren't sure, stay with black. The painted caliper price isn't cheap - it may not cost you anything additional to have a shop remove them, powder coat to your choice of color, and reinstall.

Mine just came in on that shipment going to pick it up Friday...Rick Conti has been Great to deal with I would recommend going with him.
I went with the carbon flash and bright red calipers that match the two tone seats pretty well. I was planning on getting some after market wheels but theses are growing on me.
Regarding the above post: I like the simplicity of the stock black wheel and GM's $1K price tag is a major bargain for Carbon Flash. "Economies of Scale" as Tadge puts it in the Jay Leno video.
Personally I don’t like red calipers on cmg. I see a hint of blue in cmg that I think clashes with red. IMO blue accents would look better than red, but I’d prb save the $600 and keep calipers black to put the focus on the wheels
RK, very interesting observation on the “clash” there. I was thinking the red calipers would be nice with the red seat option. It’s a tough call. I don’t mean to belabor this matter over wheels, but it struck me looking at a few C8s in person: with a car this size, that sits so low, that has 19 & 20 inch wheels...those wheels are a VERY large part of the overall look. I think this choice is a really big deal. And it’s tough.
Jimmy, I totally agree. And that was exactly my choice seeing the carbon flash wheels at dealer. It’s best bang for the buck on factory wheel options imo and it may be the smartest and safest pick ..one you’d never regret. I just decided I wanted to move away from the black look. But the carbon flash is a great deal.
I like your thinking and love the price. But when I mentioned this to my wife she reminded me of the last time I used paint on car wheels and botched it big time. Her response: you’re spending $65k on a car & a $9 paint job? Ouch. So I may have to put marital concerns above the $591 savings lol!

I’m all about bang for the buck. Check out the avant- garde wheels. Forum vendor has great options. I’m going with a carbon flash metallic m520r on rapid blue and you can get them mounted and balanced w lugs and on factory tires for around 1800. I also like their dark graphite finish. Their CF looks really good. I can’t get over the machines lip on the factory wheels myself.
