Default 2020 VIN Decoder

This is an example of a VIN # for a 2020 Corvette Coupe (3LT):

1G1Y82D45L5109199

There are 17 characters. Starting with first character on left the codes are:

01. "1"= Built in US
02. "G"= General Motors
03. "1"= Chevrolet
04. Denotes the car line: Corvette is a "Y" body.
05. Trim level:
.. 6=1LT
.. 7=2LT
.. 8=3LT
.. 9=export (Non US, Non Canada)
06. Body style: "2" = Coupe, "3" = Convertible
07. Restraint code: D – AJ7 Active Manual Belts, Airbags – Driver & Passenger and Seat Side
08. Engine: LT2 = "4"
09. Check Digit – 0 to 9 or X
10. Model year: L (2020)
11. Plant: Bowling Green = "5"
12-17. Production sequence number that starts with the #100001 for each model yr.

000001 = captured test fleet cars
100001 = regular production

Its really too bad that unlike Porsche you can't decode the VIN to get Color, Trim, etc.

Hopefully GM releases a report on the 20,181 C8s made as to what options were the most popular (duh...High Wing lol) etc. I'm sure Torch Red, White, Black and Silver remained popular choices. I'm more interested in seeing how well Sebring, Accelerate Yellow and Rapid Blue did.

They already released this info in summary form. The NCM will post more details after production ends.

Totally agree with CamsC8 about "Its really too bad that unlike Porsche you can't decode the VIN to get Color, Trim". For example, I have a friend who has an '87 3.2 Coupe with an interior of blue half leather with pinstripe cloth seat inserts. The leather on the seat bolsters had become scuffed and he wanted to recolor it. To do this he needed to identify the trim color so that the supplier can make up the correct tone of blue. So he just used a VIN decoder, if I'm not mistaken it was Vingurus, and this way he found out that the color was Venetian Blue Metallic.

The Trim Level (1LT, 2LT, 3LT) is actually the 5th digit of the VIN. 6 = 1LT, 7 = 2LT, 8 = 3LT.

Is it possible to determine how many 2020 HTCs were built before mine with my VIN ending 5110641?
