I hate it when contractors see the vette in the garage, it's a guaranteed markup for some of them, if at all possible i keep them out of the garage or at least contemplate hiding the vette someplace else till the work is done

Pretty sure there’s some truth to this.... I had three electricians out to bid a job. All offered the same service and rough timeline. The one that saw my car was nearly double the quotes of the other two.

No. In God We Trust. Everybody else gets checked for warrants and/or pays cash.

But seriously....It was nice of them to do that though.

Service guys definitely see $ signs when they roll up to some people to quote. Friend of mine has a mansion on the lake with a couple of acres and was quoted $4,500/month for keeping up his lawn and landscape.

Good for that contractor for being careful around the car.

Thanks for sharing a “good news” story...great to read.

And I bet if the kitchen work was done well, a very positive referral would follow.

Not sure a $60k car makes anyone think you're rich.. being respectful of your car is probably why they did that.
Its NOT an exotic car as you know. Lol

Wonder if they’d do the same for an $80k pickup or similar suv?

I actually don't show contractors the car. It's covered and in the garage to avoid the "Corvette" tax for everything around the car, including tree falling. Before the Corvette I had a tree taken down for $750 - after, the same company quoted $1200 and the first guy quoted $1500 after seeing the car in the open garage. I finally had a family friend do the same work for $500 + a $100 tip since I felt he did such a great job at a good price.

I'm also in sales, so I understand trying to estimate to the customer's ability to pay, but I'm still the same guy I was when that space in the garage had a '90 Miata in it.

I think $60K it's a LOT for a vehicle for the majority of people. I think most C8s are closer to double that price. How modest of you. Maybe it's crazy to hear, but I think most construction workers / contractors / younger guys don't have 6 figure toys. (I say "toy" because a 2-seater isn't practical for most people - like it is for me! )
I'm not sure how my <$30K, generations old vette makes anyone think I'm rich. BUT IT CERTAINLY DOES! Some of them, for sure. I hate that part of the ownership experience. Pulled up at work the first time with it and the boss, exiting his $65K pickup was floored, "WE MUST BE PAYING YOU TOO MUCH!". Not nearly enough actually. It's used and not even supercharged ..yet.

What were the workers driving that worked on your bathroom? Ratty old pickups?
Guessing something like this:

The supervisors or owner probably has something really nice though.
And before someone says I'm crapping on the working class. I AM that class! I drool with jealousy at people with C7Zs and C8s. Saw a red C7 ZR1 yesterday, still sporting a semi.
