Trying to decide how to realistically provide paint protection. Ordered a Red Coupe, Z51, 2LT. Never going to track and will not be a daily driver. Planning on paint protection and ceramic coating. Is PPF worth the extra cost?

It really comes down to a personal preference, how long will you keep the car, will minor paint chips bother you? I opted for XPEL full front, door sills, and door handle/blades.

Since you don't drive it a lot, wax may be enough but I think ceramic is good if you leave it outside a lot. . PPF is good for stone chips, so I think its a must for the front end and rocker sides. I want to do the back sides as the engine is in the back and mechanics can lay over it when they are doing some basic work. I also want to do the roof as I take it off a lot. **** I may do the whole car..lol

PPF is worth every single dollar. Period. If you want to keep the car for several years and not have chips or scratches, it’s a must. The ceramic is good too because it dramatically cuts down on dirt and makes the car easy to clean. I had partial on my C7 and this time I got full body PPF. My shop did an outstanding job and the car is spotless. Even won an award at its very first car show. If you have the money - do it.

These are all of my car taken after the PPF was installed at AP3 in Atlanta. Hope this helps!!

What's a typical cost of a high quality whole car PPF?
Compared to the cost of a high quality repaint of the whole car (in the event of scratches or damage, and/or you are tired of the color)?

I agree with using ceramic coating but have difficulty trying to justify the cost of PPF...
Instead of whole car, maybe just PPF the parts most vulnerable to road debris.

Most shops should charge between $4000-5000 for whole car PPF. A new paint job would cost twice that. Not to mention if you resell the car, most dealerships and saavy buyers will give you diminished value for a car that has been repainted.

I think adding a product like Xpel to the car is well worth the cost. It sure protects the surface from damage.
