If this is true, perhaps the gear actually did change but the clutch engagement (perceived by the driver) necessarily occurs only slightly after gear engagement; said clutch must coordinate its engagement timing with the disengaging alternate clutch in such a fashion as to provide a nearly seamless change in acceleration between gears.
To fix this, I suppose the DCT control firmware could have been written to display the gear change only after the new gear has been fully clutched in.
